Even manufacturers who use 8gen1 or so are still unable to do stuff like simultaneous recording on 3 cameras or seamless zooming, not even able to developed a panorama algorithm that can beat 2016 LG G5 standard.

Qualcomm does not give discount, they would rather pay if they wanted to keep exclusive. Remember whole Qualcomm -Apple - Intel modem thing?
D9000 does not support mmWave, used in USA, South Korea and Japan. No 8K/4K@120 recording, no 4K screen, less support for updates (so many midranges with mediatek never get second android).
Why would Motorola, OnePlus, Samsung, Sony, Htc, Zte, Xiaomi for example ditch qualcomm in favor of mediatek if SoC does not have all they want?
Even if qualcomm was giving discount, mediatek chips would still be cheaper. Difference per unit is huge.

TheLastOracle, 22 Jun 2022For some curious reasons, the Dimensity 9000 didn't really sell as well as Medatek wanted... moreD9000 has same problems as 8G1 and 8+G1, its overheat, inefficient and cant sustain perfomance, and Unlike 8G1 it cant offer unique things like Better Isp, modems, Support etc why shoul people choose it?
D8100 is one soc which should get more adoption, unlike D9000 its cheaper, can sustain perfomance and Atleast it can differentiate itself from Existing soc in the market.
