Even though they weren't even the ones that pushed the tech for as many years they come out with a $1500 phone that only has $400 phone specs, lots of limitations and bugs, and the software support of a $100-400 phone too.

Where as at least samsung gave you a flagship phone in their flip even if the design was more basic. And it has flagship software support. And it was cheaper. And they put more time into the tech.

Same battery capacity as the previous model but with a truly power-hungry SoC. Motorola seems to get it wrong this time. I don't see any problem keeping the Snapdragon 700 series SoC. The Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 is more than plenty capable for everyday use, even with Ready For Desktop Mode support.

This reminds me of the Pixel 4. Google put a smaller battery on their 4 than 3 (2800 from 2915 mAH) while still boosting the specs like getting 90 Hz refresh rate. It resulted to awful battery when the 3 didn't have great battery life to begin with.

Is Motorola purposely doing this to kill off the RAZR line for good? Seems so because 900 mAH could mean 35% better battery life on the Flip 4. Let's say Razr 3 gets 4-5 hour SOT. Flip 4 would get you closer to 6-7. I don't even think Razr 3 reaches 3 hour SOT. Think Steam Deck when playing God of War (2018). Only 1.5 to 2 hours?

I feel Razr 3 will be far worse than Razr 5G as it's 120 Hz with bigger internal and external displays. Razr 5G is at 60 Hz and is the same stamina to a Flip 3 if set only at 60 Hz. Razr 3 could have the worst battery life of the year which makes the Flip 3 and iPhone 12 mini look like stamina champs by comparison.

This feels like one of those dumb moves by a company that can kill off a product line quickly like Sony did to their PS Vita by using expensive proprietary memory cards. The final Razr? Perhaps. Doesn't even look like a Razr. Is called that by name only.

            RIP Motorola RAZR (2004-2007)
            RIP Lenorola Razr (2020-2022)

Any phone that can't last 1 day without needing charging is not truly mobile unless you work in an office or somewhere similar where you have access to sockets all day. And carrying a portable charger defeats the object too. Why not just put bigger battery and make the phone bit thicker or go back to replaceable batteries. Having 120-200watt charging is no good if you work outdoors or have no access to a wall socket and power banks don't charge at those speeds anyway so even carrying portable charger won't be any good. This phone will struggle to get 2-4 hours sot if lucky. I owned a Moto X 2014 and loved the phone but battery life was appalling and having to keep charging it even having replaced the battery was just a pain.

Shocking. Probably as well as a good portion of the hardware and software.

Which is more bad news for Michael Fisher because I got a suspicion he was looking forward more to the Razr 3 than Flip 4. Same here. The Razr 5G was never updated last year. The design on not looking like a RAZR any more but a Flip clone also makes it less attractive.

The thing is, the Razr 5G's battery life is pretty bad already. And that was only on a Snap765G, a more efficient SoC. My Flip 3 which has 3300 mAH is comparable to it and that has Snap888. So expect the Razr 5G's battery to be downright terrible if Snap8+ Gen 1 is powering it. The Flip 4 is the one to get as that 900 mAH is a massive difference.

We'll just have to wait and see for the actual battery results. I'm thinking the Flip 4 will be at least 10% longer than the Flip 3. Perhaps up to 15%. That's like iPhone 12 mini to 13 mini gains. Expect an 1 to 1.5 hour SOT increase. It's also TSMC. But we won't know for sure until they're out because the Snap8 Gen 1 was more brutal than 888 when it came to heat.

I'm not buying the Flip 4 because I'm tired changing my phone and it can be time consuming putting all my content onto a new phone. But for people who skipped the 3, the 4 is the one to get. It's more like a Flip 3S with better battery life. The cameras will be pretty much the same like the design.

I'll keep the Razr 5G for life. Most likely the final foldable flip phone to actually look like a RAZR V3, V8, & V9 and I don't see Motorola/Lenovo ever returning to that iconic design because that chin is looked down upon by consumers obsessed with no bezels. I actually use the chin as a grip.

The future Razrs from here on out will look like a Z Flip 3 and 4 clone with a bigger cover display. Think HTC One M9 going to 10. The BoomSound was gone. I doubt Motorola will continue the Razr line. Probably give up after 2 more generations. I don't see us getting a Microsoft Surface Duo 4 either. Perhaps both stop at Razr 3 and Duo 3 like the Pre 3?
