Reducing a efficiency core would result in more power draw instead of this why don't they use the most balanced cluster also known as big little cluster in which 4 power core and 4 efficiency core are used

Mediatek isn't really an option for me either since flagships that use their SoCs are never released in my country

In the meantime, suppose you said: 1+3+4 ( Octa ) ok ?

Qualcomm is so oblivious to the fact that ARM can't make good cortex anymore. What happened to NUVIA acquisition? Also, Cortex X and A710 is so bad to the point that even the Dimensity 8100 with 4xa78 is close to 1xX2+3xA710 found on Dimensity 9000, with worse node and worse frequency at that.

Mixing 720 and 710 could be related to size as well.

Anonymous, 09 Jun 2022If that will solve the thermal issues from the current 8 Gen 1/1+ and also from the 888/888+, ... moreYou do know the 865, 865+ and 870 was fabricated by TSMC.

The 888, 888+ and 8 gen 1 was fabricated by Samsung.

8 + gen 1 is fabricated by TSMC.

Rly, 09 Jun 2022Hmmm hope it will surprise me, but i don't think so... Battery sot is one of my top prior... moreGet a midrange with simpler screen and efficient SoC.

                      Sony 10iv = 163h
                      Samsung M61 = 156h
                      Samsung A42 5G = 144h
                      Realme 9 Pro = 134h
                      One Plus N20 = 129h

Now, if you want power hungry SoC, 120/144Hz 10bit screen with 1300 nits, larger main camera able to do 8K and more than 80W charging; then do not complain battery does not last whole day.
Also, taking phone out of pocket every 2 min does not help either.

Why use old cores over new ones? 1+2+4 would make more sense and you only use latest generation of cores. 1 big core only for burst operations, 2 regular performance cores for continuous operations like gaming and 4 low power cores for background tasks and stuff. Or if they need to use so many cores and physically separate them, use modern cores that are clocked lower and use significantly lower voltages. How would old cores be beneficial along with modern ones makes no sense...

I would ditch X cores or at least tune it differently, they are main sources of heat and inefficiency.
