Anonymous, 07 Mar 2022Apple and Sony fanboys do the same to Samsung phones. Where's the irony?i don't know about you, but all i see here now is people defending samsung's bad repairability score by mentioning ifixit's score doesn't matter because normal people don't repair their own phones? where's the apple or sony fanboy bashing?
Samsung and Apple removed the headphone jack to boost bluetooth headphones. Remember that.
Anonymous, 06 Mar 2022If it’s an Apple or Sony it will get bashed instead. The irony of Samsung fanboysApple and Sony fanboys do the same to Samsung phones. Where's the irony?
> iFixit suggests that Samsung should make the phones slightly thicker so it can more efficiently drive heat away from the chip
No way jose. Bad suggestion. Perhaps the only real suggestion would be for Qualcomm to build a chip that isn't a toaster. Or alternatively look for more innovative ways to cool the phone.
Jimbob , 06 Mar 2022yes its poor but who really cares. The average joe isnt going to repair it on their own anywayIf it’s an Apple or Sony it will get bashed instead. The irony of Samsung fanboys
Jimbob , 06 Mar 2022yes its poor but who really cares. The average joe isnt going to repair it on their own anywayTrue, but there are many people that know how to swap a battery or a cable, but since everything is glued shut, they won't attempt to repair it on their own, just to avoid accidentally breaking something.
yes its poor but who really cares. The average joe isnt going to repair it on their own anyway
Anonymous, 05 Mar 2022Samsung went from the company with the most repairable phones to the least repairable ones. ... moreBut they never break by themselves. Sooner than breaking the software stops working. I still have my Samsung Wave from 2010 and it works perefectly except that you can barely do a google search because no one is optimizing for such weak HW anymore. I dropped and sometimes even threw that phone so many times and once I accidentally dropped it into a fluid epoxyde solution - it still survived except the mics have to be at their loudest during call otherwise you don't hear anything (or you can use the headset). I never had a case for it but if you do buy a case for your all-glass smartphone, then it'll survive anything in normal usage and will last you forever. With this rant I wanted to say that repairability doesn't matter :)).
AnonD-1025729, 06 Mar 2022Who cares about repairability, huh? 99% of the population is not going to repair it themselves... moreYes, but that makes more e-waste
Who cares about repairability, huh? 99% of the population is not going to repair it themselves. Why design a phone that is repairable, just for that 1%? There's no way a common man can find his way through that expensive electronic components mess, even if it's made repairable.
PeterThePanda, 06 Mar 2022It should be 0/10 because of all the parts pairing and software locks that Apple is doing to t... moreSome of the security warnings regarding the non-genuine parts can be justified, given that there are components such as the FaceID sensors that directly take part in the user authentication process, and unauthorised parts could potentially compromise the security.
The screen can be easily swapped out on iPhone. You cannot do that on Galaxy phones at all (since it's strongly glued to the frame), so you will need to take out all the internal components then replace the entire chassis just to replace the display. Or how about Samsung's battery cells that are non-replaceable unless you inject isopropyl alcohol into the adhesive?
Apple isn't the most repair-friendly company, but let's not pretend like other smartphone companies are any better. If iPhone 13 deserved 0/10 then so would this new Galaxy.
Anonymous, 05 Mar 2022Amoled screens are very expensive, it's cheaper to find an used S7 for €50 and salvage it... moreLol clueless guy again. You can’t just salvage the screen. You need to replace half the phone, including the display, battery etc, if you want to repair the screen. Go check with a Samsung service centre and prove me wrong.

A damaged front screen on a Samsung, even a small chip, will force you to replace the whole front panel including the battery. Which is half the phone.
And at least iPhones are modular. If the screen is damaged, at least only the screen itself gets replaced. Good luck getting a Samsung with counterfeit display as there are lots out there.
Ian Setiawan, 05 Mar 2022My question is, why does Samsung using li-ion battery instead li-polymer? I thought they use... moreI think these days they manage li-on battery to be better than before thats why samsung still using it for flagship.
Anonymous, 05 Mar 2022Disappointing repairability score. iPhone 13 scored 6/10. It should be 0/10 because of all the parts pairing and software locks that Apple is doing to their iPhones, forcing users to go to Apple to get rid of those pesky non-genuine parts messages. Not to mention using various kinds of screws, like their BS pentalobe screws. And don’t get me started on their glass backs which is extremely hard to remove when cracked that it needs special equipment or worse a full housing swap to fix
Solun1, 05 Mar 2022These scores are useless because they just don't matter. When your phone breaks, you just... morehome lab? who says i have a home lab? i fix my own phones and i just have the correct tools and a generic desk. why are you defending samsung's unrepairability? bet if this was apple you'd be laughing your arse off for how unrepairable it is.
FatShady, 05 Mar 2022isn't screen replacement from sammy is like 500$ for the past couple of years? Man screen siwth price around 500 are for new models like S22 series or S21 series or Note 20 maybe.
I was talking about S6 edge plus from 2015. S7 edge from 2016 and S8 and S8 edge or plus from 2017 year.
