At this focal length, they choose to use smaller sensor to keep bump from being too thick.
You are not going to see cameras beyond 135mm with larger 1/2.3" or 1/2" ..

35mm effective focal length is interesting. I haven't seen any smartphone main camera that goes beyond 30mm since the 2018 LG V35. But 8MP telephoto and 50MP ultrawide? I'd rather have the Megapixel count turned the other way around. I absolutely see no point in having a large Megapixel count for an ultrawide camera since you've never been able to zoom in from it anyway. By contrast, having a large Megapixel telephoto camera can be tremendously useful for lossless zooming.

Meanwhile iPhones get guaranteed 5 (iPhone 6s actually got 6 major updates) and after that several years of regular security updates. Its not even remotely the same. Not even by a long shot. Now, you can argue about content of updates, but the fact is, you're getting same updates as people rocking brand new iPhones.

I think there is a catch speaking of camera's.
Everyone with some knowledge in engineering and optics would notice that camera module based on phone size proportions should not fit a 1/1.3" sensor, paired with 35mm and in that regard huge f1.6 aperture. I do believe that actual could be 28mm + crop, like spitting 12mp images and then scaling back to 16MP to look as native. Hope the ones who get this phone to review would notice this. Similar solution like Sonys Xperia Pro-I. Still not bad, but not that would usually expect based on spec sheet

And suddenly they think they can just charge absurd prices for because of said big numbers on paper all while having the worst software support in the industry. That's the issue with Chinese brands. They think they have premium stuff worthy of premium price just because they have the biggest and best numbers on paper. Well, I'd rather have Galaxy S22 with Exynos 2200 than any Chinese brand phone.

It's a classic focal length.

This focal length is a marketing gimmick. Around 25 is the best for everyday use, when you need to include few people and soraundings. 50 to 75 is great for portraits and around 12 is great for ultra wide pics.
Anyway, let's see how it works in real tests.
