(Yes, I do known it's a pain and requires recertification.) Incidentally, the affected models are either in end-of-life or made by the company that just got bailed-out by the government and shouldn't get to complain in matters of public interest (i.e., the downpour of money into the public safes from selling the 5G spectrum).

The FAA doesnt have a problem with 5G per se, ... moreC Band is the backbone that aggregates signal from tower to tower. 5G operation ovcurs at much higher frequency, which is why it's low penetration and you need so many towers. Low band 5G is in the 700-850mhz band and is literally rebranded 4G LTE 256 QAM 4x4 Mimo tech. It's not high speed but you get in areas that normal 4G/4GLTE and 5G won't reach

The questioning of 5g had to do with the separation between phones and altimeters in the c band. That separation is only 0.04 ghz.
5G broadcasting on “C” band is effecting the radio altimeters of Boeing 777/787 as far as I know..never heard of any accident or incident about 5G interference on final approach at Los Angeles or San Francisco since myself as an airline pilot operate at least 3 times a month to the related airports..

Now everybody have problem.
By the way its a same story like it was when 3G were being upgraded to 4G it was a same story but no major problem arised.
