As this is launched right before Repulic Day, its obviously an attempt by Micromax to cash in to "boycott Chinese" sentiment, which has so far mostly failed as the market still buys Chinese phones, statistically speaking.
But as long as production quality is maintained, I believe this is a good offer.
We're looking at G95 which is a potent chipset.
Don't complain about 4GB RAM, its enough considering that the IN lineup is bloat-free.
And with microsd and 3.5mm, you're good to go.
I believe they need a capable lower end phone too, otherwise they're good to go.
One more thing I learnt (not quite the) hard way:- You want to beat the Chinese companies? There's no other way, except to make excellent Indian phones and give excellent service. No, political messaging doesn't work. Statistics have proved it.
prfraczek, 25 Jan 2022I like when every android company post top half of the phone photo to see almost bezel - less ... moreYou're emphasizing on android, so I guess, to you, iPhones have symmetrical bezels, huh? Did you even know what symmetry is? If you did, you'd know that the presence of the notch means they're asymmetry.
Anonymous, 26 Jan 2022What countries other than India the Micromax is selling in? If you can't even name a hand... moreWe have ourselves to blame. We buy those vivos and oppos just because they are 'foreign'. The quality of photos is reason enough to prove the overall worth of these phones. Almost all display related matters look artificial to say the least. You'd rather buy any other Indian brand and at least give them a chance to prosper than buy from our enemy.
Anonymous, 25 Jan 2022Funny to see genius people criticizing a $165 device maybe they can build a better device why ... moreYea it's actually funny to see all these charlatans coming to give out their 'business-like' opinions about how the phone lacking in specs and what is the reason etc. They be like "it's a bad phone, cause it doesn't sell for free"
YoloBS, 25 Jan 2022Is gsmarena gonna review this ? Or is site only review every redmi and realme ?What countries other than India the Micromax is selling in? If you can't even name a handful, there is your answer why no one outside of India would review a Micromax. Have a nice day
Anonymous, 25 Jan 2022Because they force the bezel to be thin on the top, right and left. The reason why the chin is... moreNo, the chin is there because the AMOLED panel is cheap, the chin is there to house the display controller, panels with the controller tucked under the display is more expensive.

The reason why the chin is thicker because for handling. Lucky apple make their big bezels all simetrical so you will not notice the illusion of it.

Anonymous, 25 Jan 2022I'm actually quite surprised how much this provides in value for the asking price of just... moreOthers like infinix are doing it for a long time. A little better.
They could have distributed top and bottom bezels equally but its okay i guess for a $165 device that is mostly targeted towards people of Tier 2-3 cities and towns of India.
Regardless of the budget, phone with "2MP macro, and 2MP depth units." is always garbage in my eyes. Why are manufacturers still fooling people with these fake sensors? It's pathetic really.
Funny to see genius people criticizing a $165 device maybe they can build a better device why not enter the market yourself.
