I remember Nokia Lumia was among the only phones which provided an OLED phone on a budget at that time (my mom had a 730, its still in my cupboard). They had some of the best imaging in the biz for some years (950XL still does great even today), some of the best audio recording in the biz, one of the more unique designs/build-925, 1020, 1520, 930, etc and were mighty durable with the plastic back without looking cheap af (ahem SGS II plastic back was flimsy af though it was quite a stunning device with that bottom part protruding back for grip, but still beat by the Moto DROID Razr in terms of design/looks). I just wish we had some of these iconic designs/finishes like kevlar or metal+plastic back.
All WP/WM10 needed were more apps and a wider/stronger push (marketing), and it would've have served a large majority just fine (like apple) even without the advanced custom modding support

doesn't improve functionality at all, just promotes ads and social media, copies Apple, violates privacy and limits user freedom in the name of "security": Android after Kitkat summed up (just look at the recents menu and the fact that until Kitkat there was a dark mode taken away in Lollipop which returned in 10, speaks a lot about functionality copying Apple).
in the end, Android is becoming an apple which is worse than the actual one in whatever it does. The true appeal for Android is dying off soon.
when it gets really extreme, we need another official OS that offers the freedom and flexibility of Anroid before Lollipop. As for now, LineageOS and so on saves the day, only if your device is lucky enough to support it.
