About time Apple releases their iPads and Macbooks with OLED like their competitors. People in my office always mock my Apple devices that they can't bear to look at my low contrast displays while they all run OLED tablets and laptops and I'm considered poor.

Please don't give me this widely used garbage OLED.You people don't really know anything about displays, they have advantages and disadvantages, but they were far from being garbage, It looks excellent to me and I never had issues with it!

Samsung : this would look good on our phones. Let's try to copy it and make it look a little different. Anyways we don't have to pay a single penny.
Apple users : "Thank you Samsung! We love your displays! " 😂

I hope there are more tablet sized OLED screens that could went up high. Double layered LCD is still costs high af and widely used in monitoring screens. It won't go to consumer grade for this time around.
Galaxy Tab S7+ could only go as high as 400 nits on these days is a joke.

Anonymous, 03 Nov 2021Almost a beautiful display, except for that notch on top Yeah, let's have a notch that extends all the way , call it a bezel and be happy about it...
Lol, people.make.no.sense.
I would say that 1000nits is plenty bright for a laptop screen and HDR. Having anything brighter is beneficial for bigger screens as TVs, Projectors.
I want MiniLED to avoid screen Burn ins. Please don't give me this widely used garbage OLED.

yes, people are outdoors sometimes
Hbk112, 03 Nov 2021Do big displays really need so much brightness.... Don't think so.Actually the bigger the screen, the more brightness it needs because the light impact reduces with further distances. A 300 nit TV will appear quite a bit dimmer than a 300 nit laptop
dbjungle, 03 Nov 2021Classic Apple 2021: You don't want OLED in your laptop, mini LED is better, brighter...... moreThing is, they never said any of that. Apple never bashed any display technology, they just used it and said what's good about it. Which is smart because the LCD vs OLED debate has become a religious question
Lithuania, 03 Nov 2021What's the point in super bright laptop displays? To burn your eyes out?
On all the lapt... more"and occasionally ramp up the lights only in direct sunlight"
That's what high brightness is for. Laptops are portable devices, and it's quite possible people will sometime work with them in well-lit rooms or even in direct sunlight. Also, they say the HDR impact when watching movies is better with high brightness, of course given that the movie is well calibrated for HDR and only makes the highlights very bright, not just everything that's bright. But that won't be a problem with OLED anyway because of the aggressive automatic brightness limiter
