hmm, 04 Sep 2021Yep there is no such thing as hack proof. And saying impossible in technology is also primitiv... moreAgreed. Just disconnecting stuff from internet saves it from a huge amount of risks. Then, the owner just has to ensure physical protection of the device.

There's increasingly a trend to connect everything to internet, and its worrying on a lot of levels, not just privacy and security but unnecessary consumption of resources, and more..

To steal technology and not only, is waaaay more then just that and involves a lot of intelligence theft and reverse engineering. So stop making a big problem sound like nothing is happening, cause it ain't cut it. This thives are on the market because they are protected by their guvernment, if they were in europe, a lot of them would receiving visitors in the penitentiary by now.

And saying impossible in technology is also primitiv... moreI've seen so many experts bragging, so many programmers, so many technologies so many AI and nobody seems to be able to crack an ACCDE file or remove the password of a compressed file without brute force. Those are examples of hack-proof.

Anonymous, 03 Sep 2021I can already see fanboys of western companies panicking If you are at death risk, why wouldn't you panic? Its a hackable vehicle, it can cause deaths.

Today I heard a news that GPU's memory can be used to feed viruses into the computer system, and no antivirus detects that. 15 years down the line, probably most of these EV's will be hackable nice and easy as people get hold of supercomputers.

Why shouln't we be concerned? They never made EV's as simple as a ceiling fan, that's the problem.

hmm, 03 Sep 2021BYD and Nio dont have there own eco system of phones and home electronics and everything like ... moreTesla doesn't own phones and home electronics either. Virtually no EV buyer are interested if their EV maker are also make other widgets. I have Xiaomi Mi 10T, Mi Band 5 and Mi Robot Vacuum Mop Pro and 1more H1707 headphones. I picked another brand for wireless headphones because of negative reviews of Xiaomi. And it works just fine with Xiaomi phone. An EV is even less dependent on a phone or gadgets.

Xiaomi was not late Android era. Mi 1 was out just a year later first gen Samsung Galaxy. Android "phones" are totally different beasts than legacy cell phones. Phone name may have been stuck, but today "phones" are actually mobile computers with embedded GSM features.

Xiaomi has built their phones on already established manufacturers like Foxconn.

I don't think there are contract manufacturers like Foxconn on EV sector.

Also on smarthone sector profit margins were larger compare to cars. Xiaomi have used several tricks to keep their prices low. Like online flash sales and slimmer profits.

Tesla is ahead of competition and established IC engine manufacturers are joining the party. Nio and BYD already has EVs available.

On the other hand Xiaomi has nothing right now. At best a couple of years they won't have an actual EV for sale for sure. Those facts will put them behind a lot.

Sure I would like to buy a Xiaomi EV, if they can offer a value for money similar to their phones, but I'm not expecting it will be available outside China within next 7-10 years.

And it's never late to come in the market. Xiaomi started like 11 years ago with phones and now are top 2 in the world. While there are brands that started to make phones when mobile phone was invented by Motorola.

And EV is still pretty new. Most of the known car brands dont even have a lot of models for them and have still hybrids. I would say they started with it in a right time as a lot of the EV is already tested and developed so now is only improving the battery life and what mileage you get out of full charge

If they can come up with a good EV with a lower price tag a lot of people would be tempted.

But I don't think they can build in high volumes no sooner than at least a couple of years. Assuming they have already on the last stage of a developing an EV. Moreover they won't be able to export it more than a half a decade. They most probably will barely able to supply the demand in China as always.

Also they are very late to join the party. BYD and Nio brands of China will be much ahead of Xiaomi.
