Snapdragon 888 is similar to Snapdragon 810 where there are major issues like overheating and battery drainage. I wonder if this upcoming snapdragon would rectify those issues like what snapdragon 820 was to snapdragon 810. I think Qualcomm should make 2 versions of flagship chipsets. For example, SD 888 with slight decrease in power but higher efficiency in overall state for flagship phones and SD 888+ with slight increase in power for gaming phones since gaming phones have cooling system in-built which most flagship dont. Just my thoughts. I may be wrong in this but it could be a good idea anyway. Am i right?

Anonymous, 30 Jul 2021I wonder more how much worse the battery life will be. 888 devices have already poor batter... moreSo they overclocked it to get a speed boost but it'll generate more heat and use more power in the process. I don't see how phone vendors can accommodate Qualcomm's flagship chip anymore as it'll be impossible to cool and is too power hungry. The SD888 is turning out to be a disaster. The only thing it looks good in is benchmarks.

888 devices have already poor battery life compared to 870 or older 865 or even 855.

AnonD-936656, 30 Jul 2021If they use 8Mb of L3 cache, 4nm Samsung, 3.09 GHz would score around 1400 on Geekbench single core.Make it 10mb cache with double sided dual Chambers massive cooling chambers used on sony pro, you can use 2x x1 cpu at 3.5ghz

The 888 was horrible enough with Samsung's node, why are they doing a repeat of that bs. It's obviously gonna overheat.

Just another power inefficient and overheating CPU. SD 888 is a flop and a headache for OEM's and SD 898 most likely will be even worse. No wonder that more and more OEM's want to have their custom CPU rather than rely on Snapdragon and to lose their reputation because of power inefficient and overheating devices.

It's overprice Compared CPU and GPU cards chips they should improved it

or not they will be sued much better use the money for improvement and other stuff :)

deduct the improvement boost GPU Performance boost to effiency you would have the correct answer from its line old CHIPSET nkt being updated to latest technology they are not that expensive compared to CPU CHIPS or graphics card

GPU is more worth sense of how expensive phone was
they should update it cause EWASTE and not god for the environment waste, waste of money even hardware sulport it even Google knows it OLDER android are optimized than new ones have EFFORT fixing bugs a d optimizing OS for older android phones cause it will They don't have Upgrade Panel in OS in Andrkid which you allo to upgrade stuff that you wanted instead updating destroying PHONE which leads to EWASTE and unusable device

Qualcom chips are overprice fro. its latest technology even if its cheap they price it higher cost ecen has little improvement llw quality being made there's no backpanel being replace its only plastic should price going down compared to IPAD or Iphone build in higher quality latest Chipset if theybdobt they wi be sued by ANTITRUST LAW again much better not use it for improving and lowering the prices its market they are not expensive to make

I mean by that just improved

The potential of the V9 architecture will take more time to be realised. It would require a SoC re-design. Maybe more ISPs or more specific and larger ISP and a lot more competent GSP. Plus may e 3nm processes with 2 cores runing at upto 3+Ghz. Plus the fused RAM and ROM, with common memory between the various SoC components.

I wish somebody would do computing arrays at 5-10Ghz with raytracing 3D support, and then out of on a gaming PC.

Should have used TSMC fabs. Samsung fabs are inferior(at least until they have GAAFET process for their 3nm).
