Because the phone was releas... moreBecause competing phones did not heat up as much as the Xiaomi, for instance look at the iQoo 7.
SD888 isn’t as bad as people thought, yes not as good as SD865 in terms of power consumption but that’s just Xiaomi and it’s MIUI being the culprit.
Even Redmi Note 10S with identical chipset to the Infinix Note 10 Pro lost in terms of performance. The Infinix is more stable and consumes less battery.

Because the phone was released in the first days of january and even around mid-march its behavior was still the same as initial reviews showed.
Yes, QC released a very bad SoC in terms of power consumption, but the OEMs are given early samples of that SoC to deliver, at least, an acceptable product. Xiaomi chose to be the first and launched a crappy phone instead.
That's unacceptable.

Qualcomm, if you don't have anything, just stay quiet until you finish designing an ARM V9 SoC in whatever is the latest ramping Sammy node (Probs 4nm)
Or release some more chips in 5nm, that'd be cool for the battery life of upper mid-range devices.

Qualcomm should launch a SD875 of sort that is a plus version of SD870 (SD865+ (SD865)) , BUT with process node upgrade, from 7 nm to 5 nm.
That would be quite dope

Samsung actually doesn't let it get too hot and it limits the power consumption at around 5.5W, which is manageable in a phone meanwhile, there are other OEMs that let it consumes above 8W with temps superior to 65°C (I've seen one reaching 72° after antutu).
But the chip itself is power hungry by design, that's why it throttles so much.
