I think it won't be a huge success like 4G was. 4G LTE was rethinking and replanning the network itself. It got successful due to less costs, high speed internet and everything from call to sms being on internet line, so towers were simple.
4G was also the cheapest to run overall.

5G will apparently be much faster at a cost:- too many towers at an arm's distance raising costs for the companies (users will pay), probably huge environmental costs people don't know about (See, we can't trust any positive-concluding research on this, can't you see billions of dollars are involved?), and towards the end, it might open up new possibilities to hugely exploit the privacy of users, with IoT and AI becoming the norm.
Maybe by 2040, we won't even be able to keep secrets anyhow, and USA will have complete information of everyone who becomes Prime Minister/President of their state, and this can be exploited.

Don't take 5G advocates seriously, they're obviously catching the propaganda so I won't blame them. As if media and research world has no lies at all.

Naveen Chaudhary, 25 Jun 2021Ask yourself, do we really need 5G? We don't have proper coverage of 4G, and 4G has enoug... moreYes, we need it. 5G has already been in the US since early 2019. We too need to get 5G asap in India too. Focusing on proper coverage of 4G will make us fall behind in technology in the network sector. I don't care about the coverage of 4G. I just want the new technology to be established in India asap. You may not be desperate to download a movie in seconds, but some people are. I want things to be downloaded in seconds.

Ask yourself, do we really need 5G? We don't have proper coverage of 4G, and 4G has enough throughput if proper coverage is maintained. Speed around 10Mbps to 20Mbps is ideal for whatever data intensive work you do on mobile. I am not desperate to download a movie in seconds. For gaming the latency matters, and it's already fine on 4G. So instead of going higher and higher technologies they should make good coverage of existing technology. And yes, Reliance is crony capitalist.

SShreyas, 24 Jun 2021Everything is fine until you realise that government has decided to auction the spectrum in 2022. Won't make much difference to network. Jio will have speed caps of 104Mbps to provide 5G speeds, eventually we won't get true 5G speeds as well.
