Using the wensite is safer than installing the app. Who the heck needs disney app? Lol. Btw Huaweis Appgallery has now many banking apps from many countries. You dont even need the Amazon app to use Amazon.

Unless apps with gms and hms can work vice versa, it's useless to have another OS for smartphones other Android - unless Android becomes obselete and other reasons. Okay all Huawei next phones will have Harmony OS. How about other vendors? Hard to tell why they want to install harmony os, unless there's some "incentive" to move, just like failed windows mobile back in the day. There are several good solutions: make HMS can be installed easily on top of any AOSP, or Huawei provide a good way to make hms runs alongside gms, or create a tool to remove gms and replace it with hms (doubtful this will be popular).

At least the base system. HMS would stay under Huawei's control I suppose (just like Google and GMS).
HarmonyOS is a multi kernel system with a kernel abstraction layer. Depending on which kernel is used, it will be more or less AOSP based. Whichever way you look at it, Linux or other open source roots will be present.
Higher up (which is where HarmonyOS supposedly stands out) you should have a lot of the touted 'distributed' features are and the ability for devices to pool resources.
The simple fact that Huawei is conservatively stating 300 million devices running HarmonyOS in just a few months speaks volumes of their plans for the future.
They have inked deals with appliance manufacturers, car manufacturers, technology manufacturers...
On paper things look very good.

If Huawei were found to be spying for the Chinese government, its entire business worldwide would implode in an instant.
The US government has been looking for that kind of evidence for over a decade and found exactly none. And it has tried very hard. The entirety of US command in Afghanistan and Iraq runs over Huawei infrastructure.
Huawei serves a third of the world's population with ICT infrastructure. There has not been one single security breach in over 30 years. As a company, it deals with around a million intrusion attempts per day.
My data (as I'm European) never leavens Europe. It's sitting in datacenters in Europe and is managed by Aspiegel Ltd (a Huawei subsidiary).

That is why EMUI is based on Android 10 and why Huawei developed HMS and expanded HarmonyOS to smartphones.
HMS is coming along nicely. Petal Mail is in beta and I suppose a more direct YouTube replacement is also in the works.

To be honest Huawei is just going to struggle even with HarmonyOS, I'm glad I've stopped throwing money at them now.

I am NOT interested in updating my Mate 30 Pro to the Harmony OS because I have Google Services installed and working perfectly, and I do not want them to stop working because I have to install an OS that is not functional.
Huawei must update it to EMUI 12 based in Android 11 !!!

I'm rooting for Huawei just because I don't like when Huawei were buulliieedd.

Furthermore, Japanese & Taiwanese were free to choose any OS.
China were different,
The western act like China is the enemy, thus always pressuring China.
There is an insentive for Huawei to build their own OS.
And with more pressure from the west (ex. Cotton ban), the more Huawei Harmony OS make more sense.
