Certified Gamer, 28 Mar 2021I see the point you are making they could have a little bigger upper bezel and make the phone ... moreI mean, if we should only have a single design, the punch hole is probably the worst one and the bezel the best, but diversity is key anyway, we should have many different designs.
The issue with the punch hole isn't only that we have a disturbance inside the display, it is also that there are tons of sensors that have been removed to only keep a single camera.
This is the Galaxy S9 front sensors :

Loosing all that just for a hole that contain a single camera, which on top of that isn't that great as it need to be as small as possible, it is a big step backward.
And wireless camera are actually great for photography enthusiasts, you can do many things with them that isn't possible with a regular phone, including taking great shots of yourself in conditions that even with a selfie stick is not possible by having your camera phone in your hand.

In fact, as someone who have absolutely no interest in selfies but who love pictures, if gaming phones had a good camera setup (Wide + Ultra-Wide + Telephoto) I may have bought one already.

The only thing that came close was the original Oppo Find X :

Though the dot projector for the Structured Light 3D face recognition was inferior with only half the dots of the iPhone/Pixel 4/Mate 30 Pro and Mate 20 Pro who all have 30000 dots vs 15000 for the Oppo, also the Find X mechanism isn't that great, rather than being a real pop up, it is a mix of a slider and pop up, ideally it shouldn't come from inside the phone but rather slide out of the phone's back for additional sturdiness and waterproofing.
But if done properly, this slider pop up could also be a great alternative.

Alot of TVs for example still have to use black frame insertion
And most games are bright and vibrant with barely any darkness

OLED is not the optimal choice for gaming for these reasons:
1)Games are overall much brighter content
(deep black of oled is virtually irrelevant), this is also bad for OLED as OLED has bad brightness sustainability
2) higher static images for video game
This is a no brainer as this can increase burn in chance for OLEd
3) worse high refresh rate performance
OLED can't match an LCD screen when it comes to high referesh rates they run into gamma curve issues, think about why gaming monitors are dominated by LCD
4) fast response times of OLED leads to bad stutter
This is especially bad for lower frame rate games
Overall OLED just doesn't have the durability for gaming

AnonD-909757, 28 Mar 2021It is quite easy : Making DIFFERENT designs, this mean punch holes, teardrop notches, AND oth... moreI see the point you are making they could have a little bigger upper bezel and make the phone symmetrical like on the ROG Phone 5 has (I think the ROG Phone 3 has it too) and since Xiaomi is all for innovation they could do the wireless camera/detachable one or if you don’t like taking photos much or don’t use it (what a typical gamer does at most situation) just select the selfie camera and click the DEL key

Wow thanks Xiaomi make a really good gaming phone then take a nail and crack a hole in the screen what a shame I want a pop up camera if it was for a hole in the screen I’ll just buy another phone

Making DIFFERENT designs, this mean punch holes, teardrop notches, AND other design too, bigger notch, bezel, pop up, flip up, no front camera, removable/wireless camera, second display on the back, etc.
It isn't as if there was a lack of alternatives.
