K, 13 Mar 2021Both foldable and rollable have their appeal. That is why companies are making both. They make both because they do no know that will stick.
Remember the early cell phone era? Millions of designs, only one survived (the iphone one).
I expect tri folding (s shaped) o be the one that replaces all, the tach is not here though. Give it another 5-10 years.
But once it comes in will be obvious. Phablet sized when closed (the largest pocketable size), book sized (A5) when open. 3 sheets of 4mm each plus tiny hinge design.
The untimely death of outfolding shows that we are 5-10 years away for this tech to be mature.
Infolding employes the use of two extra useless components , kills a great use case (main cam as the selfie cam), makes the phone thicker, bigger, heavier.
It is a terrible idea that it is only around because OEMs still haven't figured how to properly protect screens.

This would be a great step

Glass is glass and glass breaks.
I am tired of people labeling foldables as less durable than regular smartphones without having any experience using them on regular basis.

Our anecdotal evidences just shows it can go both ways and none of the opposing sides must be dismissed.
Not sure I see the point of a foldable when rollables are a thing, why OPPO would release both us beyond me.

There's a Youtuber who uses foldables like Z flip in a very rough manner. The foldables lasted way more than the normal devices.
People complaining about durability need to understand that foldables ain't meant to be rugged. Just use them normally and you'd be fine.
Besides, most people can't afford it. For these folks, "If I can't have it, it must be bad" mentality kicks in
Although I don't like the durability of a foldable I'll love to get a foldable like the moto razr 2020 5g or the z flip I also like the z fold 2 but I don't really see the hype in folding tablets I'll rather have a foldable flipphone
AnonD-986036, 12 Mar 2021I have an idea for the company to make dual form factor screens, instead of foldable and rolla... moreThat's a good idea, but with the current tech, that's impossible. Like u said, it would not be available in the near future
I have an idea for the company to make dual form factor screens, instead of foldable and rollables, why not make an nanotech phone that can change shape simultaneously? It can transfrom as big as i want, as small as i want, how thick or thin it will be, and remove some features i don't need for the time being. That will be an great idea. But maybe it won't happen until 2040
