Anonymous, 24 Nov 2020But in this case it really isn't biased - they include sources with their disclaimers and... moreThat can still be biased, and in a few different ways.
One form of bias would be picking which statements get fact-checked, and which ones are left alone.
Another form of bias would be using biased sources for the fact-checking.
Whackcar, 24 Nov 2020I'm a centrist, and let me tell you these "fact checks" & "disputes&qu... moreTwitter didn't say "no more open debates & arguments," nor is it "simply telling users that they're wrong for having those views." In what world does opinion/view and claim mean the same thing? Do you even know?
You simply refused to read to understand, that's why you arrived at those conclusions. Leftist, rightist or centrist, doesn't matter here. Telling us you are one changes nothing.
Twitter says that when you make unsubstantiated, baseless or outlandish, claims, especially when you are a public figure with a lot of influence and followership, they're going to add a sort of disclaimer, to let the public know that the claim you made isn't factual or evidence-based. If you can't understand something so basic, you can go ahead and cry about it.
We live in an age of massive misinformation and fake news. It needs to be curbed – especially when it's coming from people occupying public offices – because it's already getting out of hand. No-information is better than false information.
Whackcar, 24 Nov 2020I'm a centrist, and let me tell you these "fact checks" & "disputes&qu... moreTwitter aren't censoring opinions though, or really anything, they're advising that a factual statement made by a person on twitter is not verified and potentially incorrect. No one cares if you're a centrist or not if you don't actually know what you're talking about bud
I'm a centrist, and let me tell you these "fact checks" & "disputes" are always biased, which is why certain groups of people are moving to new & emerging platforms which allow for more open debates & arguments rather than simply telling them they're wrong for having those views.
I think it would be better to let people speak their mind & argue rather than make them switch platforms. The latter just ends communication & causes fragmentation in society.
This shit is why I stopped using Twitter. It's so obvious which side they are on that it's a complete joke from them.
Roman5, 24 Nov 2020And once again, only specific information will be "Disputed". The horrendous informa... moreNope
Fake news is Fake news and must be Fack Checked.
Trump liesd more than 20,000 times, now imagine if we Fact Checked Trump everytime, Yrumpnwould would have stopped speewing lies.
And once again, only specific information will be "Disputed". The horrendous information control and propaganda that big tech gets away with is absolutely disgusting.
Tonberry, 24 Nov 2020There's nothing wrong in theory with trying to limit misinformation, but American tech/me... moreBut in this case it really isn't biased - they include sources with their disclaimers and encourage you to check out the facts. Please read into things more before you form an opinion on them
Anonymous, 24 Nov 2020As if there is a black on white representation of truth. If you take people's freedom to ... moreYes, there is, where facts are concerned the truth is absolutely black and white. It is either true or it is false. Stop pushing your bonkers narrative
Anonymous, 24 Nov 2020Lol give us a break. This platform and facebook allow Antifa posts as well as posts instigatin... moreOkay, but that's opinion from the left, not a statement of facts. Orange man and his cronies can still say they hate the left, they just can't make statements that are blatant lies without twitter letting the reader know that what they're saying is not verified or true. This is a good thing, and I really wish people like you wouldn't act like the world is ending because your great leader can't lie to millions of people without getting fact checked any more
Anonymous, 24 Nov 2020As if there is a black on white representation of truth. If you take people's freedom to ... moreHow is this curbing anyone's freedom? All it does is provide a balanced view on the subject being propagated before it is propagated further. If people actually still feel inclined to support an ideology, thought or alt. view, they can still do so despite the warning.
Crying wolf isn't freedom of expression. Shouting "BOMB!" at the airport isn't either. It is known as creating public unrest and chaos. Spreading unsubstantiated opinions as fact is also the same. The social media age has made people feel entitled to shouting out exactly these same sorts of opinions, when in reality these should never have been allowed to flourish as far as they have.
All this step does is inform the unassuming masses, since it sure as hell won't deter the hardliners.
Anonymous, 24 Nov 2020Agreed, people who scream censorship and China/Russia this and that don't know what they&... moreLol give us a break. This platform and facebook allow Antifa posts as well as posts instigating hate towards conservatives go scott free. All while getting the protections of Section 230.
Do not be blind.
Anonymous, 24 Nov 2020All the content that Twitter doesn't like or goes against their Globalist narrative gets ... moreOh, you wish for them to consult you?
Unless those contents pose no harm and are evidence-based, it's good that Twitter labels them as "disputed".
As if there is a black on white representation of truth. If you take people's freedom to publish opinions we are no longer in a society with so much as semblance to freedom
There's nothing wrong in theory with trying to limit misinformation, but American tech/media corporations are notoriously sleazy and involved in politics. There's no way I'm going to trust their misinformation labels to be accurate and unbiased.
I've seen many instances when Twitter let run a specific propaganda while quietly censoring many other genuine issues.
Before believing/commenting that therse are private entities, they are just doing their business, why we should complain?
Then just think for a second...About giving Immense power to A private company whose purpose is just to make money & what they can do with that power.
YUKI93, 24 Nov 2020To be honest, I actually don't mind this kind of idea. I, for sure, definitely don't... moreAgreed, people who scream censorship and China/Russia this and that don't know what they're talking about. This is a company with a responsibility to prevent misinformation spreading doing just that, and doing it without completely removing the misinformation from their platform. Orange man can still scream about whatever else he wants, he just can't lie to the public without penalty anymore
Anonymous, 24 Nov 2020Wait till the apologists start showing up with their "It's their platform, they free... moreYup I fully support protecting Section 230.
I you want to remove 230 then remove 2A
I think Trump will have this warning all over his account and tweets! May be fun to see that hehe
Anonymous, 24 Nov 2020Twitter shouldn't benefit from the protections of Section 230 then if they want to censor... moreIf you want to argue semantics, then they're not censoring anything. They're just keeping their owned hardware clean of unwanted bits.
You're wrong and you know it. Your arguments are as empty as T****'s fraud complaints.
