I would definitely love to see a modern-day reinterpretation of the Onkyo Granbeat DP-CMX1. I have long left the wireless audio bandwagon, so having this kind of phone for my wired headphone would be great!

i would like to see sony (their audio engineer mentioned maybe in a 1 or 2 years they will look into this) create a new walkman orientated phone, using technology from their audiophile range, nw-zx507, nw-a105 or even flagship nw-wm1a, features which truely impress in sound quality

              - no noise power supply using FTCAP (Conductive Polymer Aluminium Solid Capacitors) but that will make the phone thicker around 10mm

              - 3.5mm unbalanced for every day usage and 4.4mm balanced output to drive high impedence headphones with gold plated contacts which does not corrode over time

              - S-Master HX" digital amplifier

              - gold plated copper shielding of the audio components against interference from andriod or power supper section

              - obviously, aptx hd, ldac and bluetooth 5.0 as standard.

              - turn off the display to minimise interference

              - reintroduction of ALKALEIDO which is special alloy from kobe metals, very unique and unlike other painted aluminium, the colour is embedded to the metal and there is no aluminium 'streaks' when light is reflected, nor this is brushed aluminium, used in XZ, XZs, XZ1 and XZ2 series

it does not have to be current flagship cpu, snapdragon 855 or 765 is fine

onkyo dp-cmx1 description of balanced output via 2.5mm is a bit misleading, basically balanced output is used by professional recording or performing artist on the basis that extremely long cables using balanced output does not have signal drop out or distortation or weakening of signal with longer cables than 20 meters, but balanced output used in 3.5mm ( but also used in 6.3mm) can really be used over longer cables.

however, this is irrelavant as portable audiophile users will not use cables over 20 meters, at most 5 meter, the advantages of balanced output at 2.5mm and the 4.4mm standard is that they can drive headphones or in ear monitors with high impendence and low sensitivity, such as sennheiser hd600 at 300ohms, which is impossible with 3.5mm unbalanced

Seeing the Marshall and Onkyo makes me wish someone like LG or HTC would partner with Line 6 POD or Axe FX to allow plugging in guitar, bass, keyboard, microphone or acoustic onto the phone and use either of the above's software to record music with different plugins to have a powerful pocket amp/phone hybrid.

Give it a 5,500mAH battery, Dolby Atmos/DTX front-facing stereo speakers setup, ESS Sabre 32-bit DAC, 8GB RAM/512GB ROM (expandable), Omnivision's biggest pixel primary (64MP), Ultrawide (16MP), and telephoto (13MP) lens with Samsung's ToF sensor that can record 4K@120fps, 20MP selfie cam, 1080p IGZO panel with 90Hz minimum, MIL-STD-G, IP55 minimum, global bands, and the latest Snapdragon at $1,000 even and I would swipe that up as a musician in a heartbeat.

The Pepsi phone was an interesting idea, but for a product that's supposed to boost brand visibility, it's a joke. It's just a generic phone with a Pepsi wallpaper, how would people even know it's a Pepsi phone?
