NipponFan, 05 Dec 2019I hope Motorola suesand why would you want that? isn't it good for the consumer to have more than one brand to choose from?
NipponFan, 05 Dec 2019I hope Motorola suesthey had patent it years ago, so I don't think they can.

s-pen pusher, 04 Dec 2019i did not say that there is currently no phone that serves that purpose. in fact i am currentl... moreThe only argument I can make about what you are saying is that, when folded, the new RAZR works only to read notifications and to take selfies with the really small screen. I do agree that it is great to have a phone that can be transformed into a different form factor to fit the needs of a certain occasion, but I don't think the clamshell form factor is the answer. When folded it is too small, when unfolded it is no bigger than a regular 6" phone. The exposed screen is barely usable and the folded screen is too fragile to be used freely.
Imagine a phone that is like the Samsung Galaxy 10e when folded and turns into a 7" tablet when unfolded. Slim and resistant enough to withstand a fall and play games when folded and big enough to watch multimedia and open 2 apps at once when unfolded. That's my dream foldable phone.

I am talking about the Clamshell design, example the Motorola RAZR, if the user want to take a photo (not selfie) the user have to unfold the phone then the shared camera turn becomes the main camera, the sequence of launch the camera is slower because the unfolding steps has been delay shooting.
Anonymous, 03 Dec 2019Since when man want smaller display lolThere is a thing called Google search.

Up to now, I have always had smaller phone (sony compacts) and I will not go to bigger phone. As another user wrote you, women have handbags most of the time and they hide the phone there. I carry my phone in the pocket.
Clamshell is great option for me and I will keep an eye on it as it may be my next phone. Yes, it will be pricier, but the functionality is paramount for me.
AnonD-833125, 04 Dec 2019I am sticking with my 200€ phone and the rest of the money I will spend on more important things. Then why are you here?
I don't think that's a good idea :(
Phones have recently become long and narrow, and foldables are hopefully going to change that, and give better screen proportions where small text gets more readable. But clamshells are still long and narrow.
Well the regular phones becoming too big for pockets so clamsells are now comming up to a size where they will folded reaches the sizes of current phones 6,5 - 7 inches.
Thew what???
Dual folding phone???
Like when we fold A4 paper into a one quarter of its size but 4 times as thick???

I say thank heavens they're adopting the good old flip phone design, finally the era of actually compact phones may begin.

Reaction from the two customers who bought the Razer Fold: "under 1000 $ !? Wait, what !?!?!"
Baykko, 04 Dec 2019You are speaking like there is not a phone that fits your needs already. Basically any phone f... morei did not say that there is currently no phone that serves that purpose. in fact i am currently using a pocophone f1 as a daily driver, an asus rog phone 2 for games and multimedia consumption at home, and an ipad pro 3rd gen 11 inches for bedtime multimedia consumption. all i am saying is that the current phones, with their sizes right now, are rather unnecessarily big for my everyday usage. a clamshell like this that offers the basic functions i require when folded, then can be unfolded occasionally for full-fledged smartphone use is perfect for its size. it's not that the current smartphones are unwieldy, but to have the same functions that i am not frequently using readily available in a smaller form factor is a better option, don't you think?
