These prices are in the same ballpark as xiaomi phones bearing the SD855 chipset, and Oppo only uses mid range chipsets. How?

In India, you can buy Oppo Reno 10X zoom starting at 39,990... I think it is a far better option than Oppo Reno 2 series.

First Reno had Snapdragon 710, what you are thinking of is Reno 10x Zoom, which was a flagship. Reno and Reno 2 are mid-rangers.
