duncdawg, 08 Aug 2019I'd do whatever it took to get one... if it was oled :(Same boat man, my eyes only love oled.
Noel, 06 Aug 2019Nice phone with top specs and a monster battery BUT missing cruscial bands that play nice with... moreA GLOBAL MULTI-MODE LTE modem doesn't address due to the way CDMA has been implemented in the USA. You can not use most phone models on Verizon or Sprint unless there are USA variants. Looking at the phones listed on Sprint or Verizon and then cross referencing them on GSMARENA you'll see they have variants for the US market that support CDMA and only the GSM bands that AT&T and TMobile use.
Given that GLOBAL MULTI-MODE LTE modems have been around since about 2013-2014, a true GLOBAL MULTI-MODE LTE modem which covered all bands and frequency implementations would eliminate the need for all the variants for any given phone model.

So late to the freaking party!
Dometalican, 06 Aug 2019For the US...and it's missing LTE bands 66 and 71 (T-Mobile), 13 (Verizon), and 29 and 30 for ... moreThere are few towers on 600MHz so it's not yet clear if it's an important band. Check the coverage maps. It's going into remote mountainous areas where it's not going to work well, but will be better than the nothing you'd get using GHz bands. So far I haven't seen it.
Anonymous, 06 Aug 2019Yes. You one step ahead than me comment on US 4G LTE band. For T-Mobile customer, please don't... moreHere too. No band 66 and 71, = no buy.

Noel, 06 Aug 2019Nice phone with top specs and a monster battery BUT missing cruscial bands that play nice with... moreMaybe Asus did not intend selling Zenfone 6 for US market, but B&H who bring it to the US market and said "compatible with US 4G LTE band".
Nice phone with top specs and a monster battery BUT missing cruscial bands that play nice with US carriers. This goes to all OEMs... just include a GLOBAL MULTI-MODE LTE modem if they intend to sell their phones in all these markets. What is the point selling a top specced phone in a market if it is already crippled by lacking the top bands for that market.
I like this phone, but the lack of TMO top bands and also took a little long to get here in the US. ASUS next time take a page from Sammy, OnePlus...include top US bands for ur top devices.
do we know when it's coming to the UK?
pjcamp, 06 Aug 2019Is the 256GB version not to be sold in the US?It sure looks like it. I guess Asus doesn't like the U.S. lol.
Dometalican, 06 Aug 2019For the US...and it's missing LTE bands 66 and 71 (T-Mobile), 13 (Verizon), and 29 and 30 for ... moreAsus is a joke. Why do these companies keep sending phone here without proper bands? Pass.
How about here in Philippines?

For T-Mobile customer,please don't buy because no band 66 and 71.
For the US...and it's missing LTE bands 66 and 71 (T-Mobile), 13 (Verizon), and 29 and 30 for AT&T....why?
GAMIRSFM, 06 Aug 2019"I find the screen a little too dim and hard to see outdoors."
Exactly OLED's can solve that,... moreNot quite, some of the IPS Displays form LG can hit 1000nits boost. Or even sustained loads of 600nits. Compared to 700nits boost for AMOLED and 500nits sustained. I simply wished ASUS used a better LCD screen, it would've looked good for the price, and have no burn-in issues. Combine that with Removable Battery and Unlockable Bootloader, then you have yourself a phone that will be very handy for a good 4-years. You can't say that about most Huawei units.
Plus, usually IPS screens get much brighter than AMOLED screens because of the backlight, and AMOLED screens simply are better at contrast due to individual dimming.
There's an efficiency tradeoff too in Images of Black-Red for AMOLED, and Images of White-Blue for IPS.
The US usually gets left out when it comes to new innovative phones like this, so i'm happy to see something other than Samsung and Apple.
