gorila glass is great for front panel but using glass for rear panel is stupid. I think Kevlar or nokia's polycarbonate is better for rear panel.

Anonymous, 16 Jun 2019Do you have the link of iPhone XS and XS max glass type?!.No, sorry. But given that they have been investing on Corning, its probably a derivative of GG6 or even that itself without the branding.

Anonymous, 16 Jun 2019They don’t they use special glass.Apple said that on announcement.
Check gsma specs list.
Worst invention ever. Breaks and scratches so easily.
Don't understand what the fuss is about.
I never got the fuss about Gorilla glass. Two dropped phones proved it breaks like everything else. And it's not like people keep their phones in the same pocket as their keys.
To make matter worse, the glass breaks, but the screen doesn't, you can't replace the glass. You must replace the perfectly working screen, too. Though this isn't an issue with the glass, but with how manufacturers baked planned obsolescence into their products.

I would actually prefer a more shatter resistant glass than one that scratches easily, since people mostly drop their phones, it would be more useful that way than have a more scratch resistant but once it drops from a table height, it breaks completely.
I use all my phones without cases or screen protections.
All of them got tiny scratches ... I don't care, life is too short.
-like 99% of user apply another piece of protection on the phone screen anyway so gorilla glass kinda irrelevant and act like a fail safe!
- so i prefer plastic! glass can shatter, plastic can't, Gorilla glass can't scatch up easily, but we put glass protection on or screen anyway, but somehow plastic feels cheap and it won't sell, for some reason people want their 300$ to be a piece of glass sandwich
- I HATE IT!
Dragontrail is 1 of the alternatives, if I remember correctly there are another 1 or 2 companies who had their glass on phones from major companies.
Does anyone remember their names?

ion-X on iPhones is a custom variation of GG.
Basically just like what QC do with the ARM designs, they tweak them a little and sell them as Kryo cores.

Btw i had hands on it at the local store but it feels much more sturdy and it didn’t feel cheap. As if apple were using this,it would be good
Almand, 16 Jun 2019Sand IS one of the basic raw-materials of Glass... Actually, it is the main component..Glass and mobile Soc both made out of sand and yet micro sand aka micro dust can scratch you gorilla glass easily in your pocket :).
