I think author is confused. Apple is rumored to be planning a Lightning Port to USB-C. Which means all your old USB-A wall chargers and non USB-C battery packs will not be compatible to the new Iphone cables.

Almost major players movi... moreI highly doubt that Apple will go back to active biometrics (i.e. fingerprint reader). The future is passive biometric. The next step is to hide the camera & sensors under the display.
FaceID has already evolved on the iPad it unlocks regardless of the orientation.

I'm glad that not only Apple is finally adopting what seems to be version 2 of Lightning port ala USB-C but they also keep the same price range for the next iPhones this year.
I hope to God that they're making a UD Fingerprint scanner so strong that it can sense a finger through a thick 3D Touch capable display of theirs and ditch FaceID altogether to adopt the Chinese Waterdrop notch. Making FaceID the only option for security is a mistake.
