c?, 22 Jan 2019Previous Redmi series devices tend to have build quality that is not all around terrible, but ... moreI can see why. Two of their devices (Xiaomi Mi 5 and Redmi Note 3) failed JerryRigEverything's durability tests. Not to mention, even their devices that survived had questionable results on the bend test.

AnonD-824731, 21 Jan 2019Is Xiaomi trying to be like Nokia or something? What is it with this marketing?Previous Redmi series devices tend to have build quality that is not all around terrible, but isn't anything to write home about either. They're probably just proud of the new, more durable design.

Did they use the same phone in the stair video as they are promoting because the (exceptionally fast) slow-mo video is blurry and doesn't truly capture the waste basket's beauty as it tumbles down the stairs.
Also, these videos mean absolute sh!t.

Because certifications cost thousands of dollars, and dont always magically protect you - some Galaxy and Xperia phones in the past had IP ratings, and soaked liked a sponge with first contact with water because of some batch production fault... Even if you have certified phone, your device might have little chassis imperfection which decreases sealing. Or you create the sealing imperfection by using it, little bends in the pockets, falls, or just unnoticeable battery bloat... and warranty usually dont cover water damage even in certified phones...

Some manufacturers just use the sealings, test it internally, and the effect might be same as with certified phone... but phones are cheaper this way.

This is the most innovative and pointless drop test I've ever seen. And the second video is just simple physics.

Abhi Dahiya, 21 Jan 2019Those certifications cost money and hence make the phone expensive. Redmi provides you all... moreTo pay for certification costs money but it ensures peace of mind which is invaluable. I don't expect high IP rating from a mobile at this price point so it doesn't bother me. Though these gimmicky stunts are going overboard.

Redmi provides you all this for $150. Those two certifications alone would make the price bump to $200 which is useless exercise.

you can simply kick the phone from first stair instead of putting it in the bin that already absorb the forces, also yes from the skates video it defines that the phone is passed the durability test but still can the screen face the direct drop from 5ft , i don't think so if yes than let's see upcoming drop tests of this phone.

throw it from Burj Khalifa. If not broken then I will buy the tested piece for double the amount. i m joking ;) actually I think it will not survive.
