Keep in mind these are official mi stores, so not unofficial import. Hence they should have correct price, comparable to price in China + local tax, gvie or take a little. 40% higher seems like something one could expect from parallel import, not official channels.

The future of smartphone is driven by Chinese tech companies, not by Apple or Samsung, starting in 2019. This trend was already started in 2018. But 2019 will be the year to see this new reality fully emerge.

Anonymous, 18 Jan 2019Xaiomi seriously needs to rethink about opening multiple physical stores in Europe and the US ... moreThese retail stores generates tons of brand awareness and new customers and fanboys, I would assume that it's still better for a company like Xiaomi (that needs brand awareness more than samsung/apple) to open bunch of stores for a few years and close even half of them later on.

Xaiomi seriously needs to rethink about opening multiple physical stores in Europe and the US at a time when most companies are closing physical stores due to running costs. 1 in each European country is enough,gives customers peace of mind for returns etc. They sell phones with only a 5% profit margin, factoring in store running costs abd they're left with almost nothing.
