Considering that Samsung had a few troubles selling the Galaxy S9 and S9+, I'd say we reached the point where we have everything we need and more in our smartphones, and there is no longer an urgent demand for an upgrade. The financial climate may also be a contributing factor.

Every year with every new apple device it will be only worse.

2 problems. 1. This is Usa, people in Usa arent loving phones off-contract. Carriers dont see the same decline, even iphone 7 is holding up well after more than 2 years. US carriers still sold a lot of iphone 4s when the 6 came out, apple is king in carrier lock-in sales, but never king in retail, Americans simply hate to pay for phones and prefer locked carrier models. The aversion is so strong that they rather RENT an unlocked phone when going abroad for vacation than to pay for an unlocked one.
2. The curves for any huawei or galaxy flagships are peaking harder, these peaks for Xs and Max are only declining faster than previous iphones. Look at Mate 20 Pro, its new but already falling off the charts.

Handling apps stored in RAM is different from mobiles to mobiles.. For me my Lenovo with 2GB of RAM always have more than 1.3GB of RAM free when Whatsapp and Facebook is on background.. So if you generally imply that Android OS eats up the RAM you are clearly WRONG!

With IPhones not selling and Apple always passing on the full cost , 5G can add $200 .
Given this will make the 5G 2019 phone most expensive
Apple and 5G nay be the catalyst to restore sale figures.
Never underestimate how much price deters people when it comes to Apple
5G may reverse that
