I had to look up ODM in Wikipedia:
An original design manufacturer (ODM) is a company that designs and manufactures a product, as specified, that is eventually rebranded by another firm for sale.
So - any guesses who else will be rebranding the same hardware?

Bottom bezel could have housed a front-facing speaker. Samsung misses an opportunity to offer front-facing stereo speakers at budget prices.

AnonD-632062, 13 Oct 2018I have slightly mixed feelings about this.At least it has a 3.5mm jack, microsd as STANDARD and no nonsense FUGLY NOTCH. That's the most important thing.

Anonymous, 13 Oct 2018Well, those phones they are releasing sells in every country. So I guess that is also a big factor. Only their flagship S and Note series sell well in every country.
Nobody's interested for their current mid range lineup when they have BBK (Oppo, Vivo, OnePlus, RealMe), Huawei/Honor, Xiaomi, Asus, and even HTC, LG, Sony, and Motorola that offer much better mid range and low end phones than Samsung.

Camera arrangement is familiar to Vivo phones, which were familiar to the iPhones.
Squared corners of the cameras would make it more Samsung-style, but even the idea of putting the cameras on the upper left corner is already a form of copying.
