AnonD-632062, 05 Sep 2018Yup. So true. We really need to start seeing more 4000+ mAh batteries.Yeah, it's the obvious solution. But software optimization works pretty good as well, as evidenced by the more than expected battery life you get from the V30 and G7. Battery plus software optimization, and you get a battery champion

As both xz3 or axon 9 pro both offers nothing serious really as flagships, except Axon is more cheaper which is definitely better. Midrangers was hard to choose between LG 7 one or Honor Play. Well sd835 still beastly and should provide little bit better optimization than Kirin 970 and little bit better performance, plus it is good for music lovers.

Though the new processors we have nowadays make the performance, camera experience, and just general computing, which I think it's good trade with some battery life. It's why people have been saying we need bigger batteries to offset the power hunger of the new chipsets

I would consider the G7 One as a “higher level” phone, as it’s really better than a mid-ranger, but S835 is not a flagship chipset anymore (just “higher performance” chipset).

Back to the phones, I still think all the phones are too large in size for me, while the specs are generally good for their respective range. While I hate the notches (Everybody please kill this feature!).

The article says G7 is classified in midrange cos it only has one camera at the back. By that logic XZ3 and Pixel series will also be mid-range devices. Besides 835 is in no way mid range. It's still much better than 710 and not that far off 845.

But Axton won over Sony and Huawei smashed the other conmpetition.

It was none other than the Galaxy S5.

Yeah, extracting more battery out of a limited battery should be a prime objective. LG V30's 93 hour endurance from a 3300 mAh battery is good, but I feel S6 Active's 109 hour endurance from a 3500 mAh battery is even more impressive. Don't forget both have flagship grade screens and specs, as we can't compare flagship battery endurance to mid-rangers.

It all usually comes down to the chipset. In all my years, I have found that the most efficient chipsets are the Exynos 7420, Snapdragon 625 and the Exynos 7870, to a degree. BTW, all of these are 14 nm.
