Walter C. Dornez, 29 Jul 2018Yes, indeed. So much hate for it before it launched and now people are saying is nothing new People weren't hating but we're skeptical of the claim and who wouldn't be??? With such big numbers thrown your going to have some doubts I mean . And now with the beta version out people now have an idea what its like and its not something new. Basically the improvement is something based subjectively with a big DISCLAIMER about the actual results and difference.

Shui8, 28 Jul 2018S9+ is a $1000 device, Honor 10 is $400. Now u do the math.I did the math. And I found that both cost almost nothing for me.

So its an old technique, using some of the vast cpu capability sitting spare to optimise the work the gpu is asked to do and therefore make devices more efficient, which is always handy..but doesn't really solve the problem of having massively over-powered cpu's doing very basic tasks, even using big little etc tech, all that grunt and power draw is used for is tiny increases in overall speed but at the price of power draw...

Huaweiband Samsung must make their own or like Apple iOS, it's really a shame, sick a powerful hardware is made to run on an inefficient OpenGL Based Emulator OS

Looking forward to KirinOS and Proper Tizen OS

So it's not quite a marketing gimmick,
But is a lot less useful than advertised.

To me itak kind of looks like Vulkan render or object occlusion rendering on desktop GPU.

Vulkan as software efficiency bind to metal layer, culling for less objects to render.

Nice to see up to 2x less power usage, didn't expect that.. it just proves how inefficient opengl is on mobile.

More needs to be used with vulkan + this GPU tech, or just implemented in api by default.

This is tech from the 90's, exactly it's speculative execution which was introduced by Intel on P6 processors. That's also what made possible Spectre and Meltdown security flaws exist.

I don't see every developer on board with this. I mean the amount of resources to pour in just a small incremental boost. You have to end up re-writing a portion of your game code for a bit more FPS. If you ask me I wouldn't pour any resources at it because the better the actual GPU is the better experience right the consumers would figure it out by them selves??? or its just me.

This is also why gaming on iPhones are so much smoother than gaming on the latest Android phones. There is less dip on iPhone then Android and it is usually the dip that let you notice the same isn't running smoothly

Impressive the only downside I see is developer support we all know Huawei is not popular among developers if Adreno Turbo materializes it will be much much more wider adopted

So GPU Turbo is nothing more than Branch Prediction applied to GPUs? The fact that it's proprietary (except if they licensed it from Qualcomm's Adreno boost, which would make sense) means adoption will be fairly (s)low
