Xperia X Compact still getting monthly security updates (including July 2018). Not bad for an almost two-year-old phone. Presumably that will continue through autumn of this year.

For just the basic stuff? The time spent complaining nonesenses is the same that may took a research on blogs, forums, Google, YouTube, etc. - If... the subjects are real on their claims

Most of the people complaining here have no clue how to perform a proper update, hence all their so called problems.
Before updating your phone, make a full backup of your contacts and whatever it is you want to save, do a HARD RESET, and after doing that you can update without any bugs.
But people are lazy or they don't have the knowledge..
Educate yourself people!
That's what forums and comments like this are for..

and what you say is rare case..
most i feel buggy only in MM and the rest mostly stable..
to be fair, im also use samsung note 4..
sometimes i feeling sad with samsung because the update is slow

I got the update for my xz premium. But it turns on silent mode whenever i plugged in the charger. Any solutions?

I believe that SONY is the fastest company in supporting its products software with continuing updates .. My XZ Premium performance is a real charm (Fast & light)

Sony didn't say a word of promise about great software support but they're doing it anyway.

Couldn't be happier that I skipped the XZ1. Camera is definately sub par with other flagships, and not really an improvement compared to XZ. It's not even different. Got the XZ2. Though it's a bit on the heavy side, the size is just great, and the camera is just so much better than any competition around. Audio quality is amazing.

I don't care about this garbage company anymore.. Sold my XZ1 and I couldn't be happier 😁 still no 8.1, no OIS means bad low light shots, poor battery life and a boring UI, constantly switching from 2G and 5G (the only phone which has done this) and the depreciation. When I bought it, it was worth almost £400 and now I got a good offer of £200.. Yes that's HALF PRICE in just a few months..

Sony software updates is great and awesome and it is lightweight and very smooth. Happy with Xperia;)
