And I don't have this issue on phone calls on my Redmi 5 Plus, which clearly means it has something to do with the software.
They definitely fixed it on newer Xiaomi phones without even having to make it a big thing, so how come only those phones are treated nicely??
No, they don't even have to prioritize this to be fixed. They didn't even focus that much on microphone but were able to do it well with newer phones, so it's their duty to do the same for lower end and older phones.
It only means one thing; Xiaomi is cheating on us Redmi 5 Plus users!
Again, it has been 4 years!! Such issue can be solved within weeks or even days after getting such reports.

Xiaomi sucks its users instead of miui10 9.5 based on Oreo ,first give an update for battery drain,updates are very slow by Xiaomi better to switch next on Huawei

Shanti Dope, 26 Jun 2018Just to remind, it has been 4 years since the problem started existing.Just wait if it's been reported (otherwise, you know what to do), they can't do everything all at once. If you missed out what Lei Jun said at end of last year, this year focus is camera and AI, which they deliver. Who knows sound is next year (I don't think so, though, as they usually follow some ongoing hype)?
