why do we have this dilema? why not just have a phone without a selfie cam. i cant recall the last time ive used one..

Unfortunately as much as I dislike the notch, I ended up buying a phone with one anyway (Zenfone 5z) because it represented the best value in my eyes. Has 3.5mm jack, has a nice large screen with 85-90% STB (depending on who you ask), dual stereo speakers, new ZenUI is slick, SD845 chipset.
My 2c is that the notch does help because now the battery indicator, time, etc. is in the 2 "horns" of the screen which was previously unused real estate, and the extra 100 pixels or so is freed up for more usable screen space which is nice when reading or watching UHD videos. I don't like it, but I understand it and I have the option to "hide" it which is nice.

Notch is ugly a tiny bezel is better but a enough bezel is the best, because it can have the space for large front camera sensor and also the dual front firing stereo speakers and better grip in landscape mode.

Knock Knock...No Notch please.....
I really find the notch existence on a phone is of no use , instead go with complete bezel else put a camera in one corner of the screen and utilize the rest of the screen, that would not look weird. The notch is actually breaking the continuity view and kind of kills the design feel of complete screen phone and constantly annoys you and its like the notch is always speaking to you whenever you look at the screen and telling "Hey i am here ".

Why does everybody hate the notch so much?
Notch is good, notch is life, notch is everything.
Just accept the notch.
Even if you say no, the curent trend speaks the truth.
Customers will not feel satisfied no matter what manufacturers do.
We don't want plastic, but we want removable batteries, we want good durability, so manufacturer gave us metal build but we want wireless charging.
We want wireless charging but we don't want glass back, let alone plastic.
You haters need to chill. Buy it or leave it and stay with your old phone forever. Easy.

-Sony XZ2 (but it doesn't have a 3.5mm jack: (thanks a lot chinese motorola! we hope you die like HTC!)
- Samsung S line (if you are ok with the edge display and lazy AF updates - I'm not)
The rest are just lame wannabes that will copy/paste anything to sell - ALL the china replika brands and lately LG fits right at home in this category..
So yeah, pick your choice: Samsung or Sony. The only 2 brands worth buying if you're an android user.

82% prefer regular shaped screen over notch yet manufacturers don't give a f#ck about the what consumers want from a smartphone. It's sad that we have to accept trends we don't even like this day and age, something we can't find anything unique is becoming harder nowadays because latest trends is more focused on marketing strategy over identity.

Ultimately, Android phones are now going to be plagued with the same notch disease whether you like it or not. Just like most of the phones had the 3.5mm jack removed because Apple say so.

i think sony xz2 bezzles are perfect because when you hold phone in landscape mode it will not cover any screen or not touch accidentally on screen
