Its a great decision that Google taken to aquire parts of Motorola Mobile business to protect Andriod users and manufacturers with the expensive costs. Thanks to Google for open platform Andriod Apps as well as the efforts put in which different from the rest of Apps and restriction imposed to users of Apps by other Apps(etc: Apple Apps)instead.
Thanks Google!! The Andriod users have benefited and now to be protected from using Andriod Apps..
wath happening with motorola ????'
Anonymous, 17 Aug 2011Of course the logic is there, except one thing. This is Apple's logic, which most supporters o... moreAhh.. But if Google and i stress IF, remains true to what they stated and run Motorola as a separate company then integration is not the goal, their statement suggests that they only seek to provide support to other Android supporting manufacturers from a manufacturer's standpoint. Apple is a manufacturer and is using this to push its device and OS platform. Google just doesn't want those using their platform to give in so they are attempting to show that they can roll up their sleeves and put up a fight too
Firstly, if you have not been paying attention, these companies have been suing each other continuosly over the years in order to gain the upper hand (Apple and Microsoft seem to have been the main culprits).
As I said one comment before yours (Anonymous), if Google did not buy Motorola the patents Motorola had may have been exploited by Apple or some other greedy company. If that happened then both the Android OS and its users (aka. most other smartphone manufacturers) could have been sued heavily and prevented from using various superior technology and methods.
They would thus lose huge market share as they would not be able to use the more popular technology regardless of whether the company owning the patents actually developed the concept in the first place.
In other words, the good guys, Google just spent billions of dollars to save the hides' of all of the other smartphone manufacturers that do, or even don't in many cases, run on Android.
Why is this happening I ask? :( Why did they buy this? What patent war, I mean, I read the news but what are they gonna use Motorola for?
Firstly, would the person who thinks that Google is going to turn into the big bad wolf please read properly; Google stated that it was not a merger. So why did they acquire Motorola. Simply put, to prevent the likes of Apple monopolisising the market, ruining the Android OS and taking down pretty much every other smart phone manufacturer in the process. IT WAS A BRILLIANT DEFENSIVE MOVE and you can count on Google not to hoard the patents for themselves, but rather to make them freely available. It was a PREEMPTIVE/DEFENSIVE strike. Secondly, so what if they do use Motorola to make some extra cash. They might seem to be taking a hardware-software approach (I am not sure why we associate this with Apple and make it a bad thing), however, the key difference lies in the fact that they would still be giving away EXACTLY what they are giving away now, Android OS, whereas Apple has given absolutely squat back to the technological world.

Apple believes in hardware-software integration which they believe gives the best product to the consumer. The Google-Motorola merger emulates this, making Google a hardware-software entity, more tightly integrating the components.
Ironic no?
Max, 16 Aug 2011Ateeast they dont sue others. Thats the difference...They don't sue others???? Try the US Government LOL

motorola is the master mind in r&d in mobile hardware , moto is the grandfather of mobile-telecom, but company always in big crisis due to its own big-salary top level marketing staff, they all are cheater & polition
100 Moto, 17 Aug 2011So exactly when did your beloved BB started USB charging? Motorola started to use mini-USB in... moreSo now I love blackerry? You're a foolish one aren't you? Just because I post factual information about something does not make me a lover of said brand. You're just making yourself out to be more of an ignorant foolish person that you started off as. FYI the blackberry 6230 had mini USB charging since it's release in 2003 buddy, a year ahead of your supposed "Motorola innovation".
Motorola was the first to use microSD? Facts to prove this or is this merely fanboyism just like you believed Motorola was the first to introduce touch screens and usb charging even though I already proved both your statements false?
Motorola's first phone to use microSD showed up in Q1 2005, lets say that they were the first one to use microSD do you believe it was because Motorola used microSD that microSD is widely used by every phone manufacturer now? Sorry to break it to you but thats not the reason fanboy, SD format was already and has already been the standard format for years. Naturally using a smaller version of this format which everyone already uses and is backwards compatible with SD made sense, not because Motorola used it, lol. Going by your line of thinking again then Palm Treo should get more credit because it used SD format back in 2003 and then from SD gave birth to mini SD which gave birth to microSD so then because Palm Treo started using SD everyone uses microSD right?
no comment plzzzzzz
sorry...........
I'm reading a lot of these comments and while I don't claim to be an expert in stocks/mobile markets etc. I do see the logic in Google's strategy. It's an attempt to bolster Android support directly from the mobile side of the business. By getting directly involved they hope to b able to fight for their platform not just watch and hope that those who currently license it don't give in and pull their support in the wake of all the competition that Apple and Microsoft and throwing at them. Remember it is the support of phone manufacturers like Motorola that determine a platform's longevity, not just the platform itself.
AnonD-10946, 16 Aug 2011Oh sure, I love USB charging, except the fact that Motorola didn't invent it. Blackberry and m... moreSo exactly when did your beloved BB started USB charging? Motorola started to use mini-USB in 2004 with its E680 and micro-USB in 2005 with its Q8. Can you recall exactly which BB models first used mini/micro USB?
For memory cards, from what I recalled, many manufacturers struggled to use between many different formats, from MMC to RsMMC, from SD to mini SD, and Motorola was the first to use MICRO-SD, which is the standard for today, even Sony abandoned its Memory Stick in favor for Micro-SD.
Suggest you stop using your mobile phone as you hate Motorola so much by not giving the credits it deserves.
AnonD-1082, 16 Aug 2011Don't be naive. Google knows what they got themselves into and they will fund Motorola to reco... moreLike I said, Motorola as a mobile phone manufacturer is quite small. Setting the United States to the side Motorola's foot print outside the US is almost non existent. Why would google buy a weak company at 63% inflation to what stock values when they could've easily just partnered with Samsung for much much much less and had Samsung as a exclusive manufacturer to Android much like Nokia is to WP7? Easy the patents are worth that much, especially when its a means to defend Android users, HTC now has the balls to sue Apple because with patents like the ones Motorola owns Android would win.
AnonD-1082, 16 Aug 2011Don't be naive. Google knows what they got themselves into and they will fund Motorola to reco... moreThere's a reason why Microsoft didn't manufacture PCs themselves and why they didn't buy Nokia.
You should realize what limiting choices of mobile devices for Android will do to itself. One, it goes completely against the public statement they have made, two, it goes against the idea behind Android. I'm sure Google realizes that already. It's common sense which you don't seem to be able to grasp.
As soon as control comes into Android. It's over. No one will appreciate another Apple. Bad investment in both short and long term.
AnonD-5197, 16 Aug 2011Google doesn't care about the future of Motorola... lol
Samsung and HTC are doing such a go... moreDon't be naive. Google knows what they got themselves into and they will fund Motorola to recover the money they spent in the acquisition. Google spent 2x the amount of what they earned in 2010 in that acquisition and it will be idiotic not to fully exploit it. In the end it's all about money and money trumps all. Google will fund Motorola and they will flood the market next year. There will be casualties among the manufacturers but Google will end up with more cash in their pocket by building their own hardware.

Wonder how Samsung feels about this deal. Google-Motorola now emulating Apple and Nokia-Windows controlling hardware and software. In the end, proving Apple's ideology right. Samsung the one left out with hardware only.
