Other than lack of apps, the MS OS is far more stable, easier to use, and so much better looking (UI) than iOS and Andoird.

If one feels like switching to Windows it's still time to grab an HP x3 or Alcatel Idol 4S for cheap.

I've used android and Windows phone extensively. Google's OS is neither pleasant to use, nor innovative. The Galaxy 9 even tries to rip off MS's Continuum feature

Anonymous, 25 Feb 2018I still have my Lumia 950XL up and running and even though in the past year I've owned the S8,... moreIt's funny because most of the geeks out there think exactly the opposite:

              (Linux >) Android > iOS > WM

What customization are tou talking about? You cannot disable those horrible tiles or switch to a different layout.
Can you run Terminal on WM? Can you write and RUN bash scripts in WM? Can you run Linux commands on WM? Can you write python, perl programs and RUN them on WM? Can you root WM? Can you flash different ROMs with custom recovery on WM?
I believe the answer to all the questions above is NO.
WM is just like iOS: for people with ZERO technical skills or knowledge.

I still have my Lumia 950XL up and running and even though in the past year I've owned the S8, and now I have the iPhone 8, I still prefer the Lumia for it's advanced features. Live tiles and the real glance screen are the best. Email experience is the best. User interface - the best. User experience - the best. Camera app - the best. Customizability - the best. Notifications drawer - the best. Notification system - best. Camera button - best. Screen - best. Build materials - best. Glass and metal have no reason to be on a smarphone's back.
Apps - not many, but better than the ones on Android, and more futuristic as well.

Windows > iOS > everything else > Android

Ded, 24 Feb 2018No app phones ..text calls only I used Lumia for more then 4 years, the OS, is great. No apps? Android has so many bad crappy and invasive apps, that is pretty much verry hard to find just one that actually works, and does the job. It is so hard, that actually, with lumia was way easier to find good working ones. Just cause, their aren't 3000000 crappyy and 2 good. Their are 5 good and one crappy. It is a shame people have no ideea how interesting and smooth that os is and can be. It is also a shame that their are only two os's left on the market, and funny , it is the first monopoly i have seen in my life, where the mass is to blame. True sheeps on the road to the slaughter hause.

There's a reason phone sales dropped last quarter, they've reached good enough status.

I bought the 950XL last year on clearance for $160. After playing with it for a few days and remembering why Windows Phone is not really a contender OS, I put it back in its box and in storage.

500$ for a phone with the annoying windows 10 and chipset that overheats even thought the XL has a heat pipe. It's a bit absurd to give such huge price tag when there are phones out there offering much more for the money.Windows is a giant company and they can make newer versions with better specs as they used to.XL was an amazing phone but for the time of it's release.Yes,i heard the news that they are stopping production but they should beat the market by making their old phones affordable and cheap for everyone to get.Probably they will justify their good quality phones at much less price than this such as 400$ for XL or less.

And don't forget to install some CAD apps with 3D viewing capabilites, Adobe Creative Cloud apps, Microsoft Office and hundreds of new games on just because you can. And then some RAM and cache purge apps and if that doesn't work then don't forget about daily reboots.

TBH, I actually want the Surface Phone to happen. I'm an Android fanatic but I can see why some people like Windows phones. Since Windows is easy to program for many, I can see a group come up with an .apk that allows the use of Android apps on Windows considering Windows standard apps are actually pretty darn good. I would love to see this:

                                        Surface Phone: $500

                                        5.2" 1080 x 2160 Full HD; Gorilla Glass 5
Snapdragon 855 (newest one rumored to come out; I'd actually rather Microsoft find another brand for processing but in case they don't feel like looking...)
Windows 10 (brand new mobile update for the phone's release)
All GSM/CDMA/TD-CDMA/WCDMA/HSDPA radios for FULL carrier support (perfect for businesses)
                                        LTE bands: 1,2,3,4,5,7,12,13,14,17,20,25,26,28,30,38,39,40,41,42,66,74
                                        RAM: 4GB/6GB variants ($60 more)
ROM: 64GB/128GB/256GB variants (each upgrade for $80 more)
Dual SIM with dedicated Micro SD card slot for up to 2TB
Rear Camera: 20MP with OIS; 4k/60fps recording
Front Camera: 12MP with 1080p/60fps recording (for meetings and such)
                                        IP67 Waterproof/Dustproof; Shatterproof
Stereo Speakers (top speaker and bottom-firing speaker)
                                        Qi Wireless charging
                                        IR Blaster

Kickstand for comfortable meeting and presentation viewing (unless Microsoft decides to make an official case for it with one along with being thin enough to support wireless charging)
Fingerprint sensor in the back; Retinal Scanner using the front camera

                                        Surface Phone Pro: $650
