And definitely will not be first to release 5g phone I I am sure 100 percent. First will be very likely Samsung, Samsung has 1st tier priority for Snadragon chipsets. 5g is dependent on soc, which basically mean whoever will get first to release their phone with latest and greatest SD chipset will be First, and so likely it will be Samsung

That's why you should buy new phone every five year not every year.

Every company every customer service and every shop is lead by people.
Your problem is there.
Luxor, 22 Dec 2017They will have to, in Netherland at least. Vodafone Netherland is shutting down their 3G netwo... moreAs Governments usually sell licenses to Network that allow them to operate, I guessing that Vodafone rather than pay for a 3G and 5G have decided to terminate its 3G license and operate 5G alone
Countries like Japan do NOT have a 2G network at all, this meant if the facts are correct meant the first iPhones being 2G only were not sold in Japan
In the UK we have the THREE network which never had a 2G network.
Closing 2G or 3G networks say Vodafone, could mean rather than upgrade a person switched
For those that think 5G ready in Apple is a market leader, 5G is an upgrade so expect to pay more
It will be flagship that have international versions who will take the lead
S9?
Luxor, 22 Dec 2017They will have to, in Netherland at least. Vodafone Netherland is shutting down their 3G netwo... moreFor now lack of #g would be a terrible idea. First because 2G calls have worse quality (And networks won't have enough capacity), and second because every time 4G signal is weak enough it will drop to 2G (And during calls too, of course).
It's like the 3.5mm jack. They are dropping something withoug giving anything in return. Just more compromises (This time from carriers).
When 5g is come

Vodafone Netherland is shutting down their 3G network soon in 2020. Airtel India also doing the same. Iphone user and android user in this area will have to live by 4G and 2G only. Unless 5G really kick off next year as claimed.
Luxor, 22 Dec 2017The next thing Apple will get rid of. No more 3G in iphone. Hahaha.Impressively enough. the iPhones (as much as I hate them. the moment I'll start loving iOS is the day when iTunes finally dies and we'll be able to load songs directly, with a decent file browser) have the LARGEST coverage of XG (1G to 4G) frequency. so as much as we know. tiny are the chances they'll suddenly drop 3G

Does that mean that phone and data are now merged in to one - that both now use 5G and that 2G for phone is no more.
One of these :Huawei, Nokia,Apple or Sony
Considering Huawei and Nokia work on the 5G since they are companies that make telecommunication towers..etc then there is big chance that they are the first to implement them on their phones
Considering Apple implement most of the 2G, 3G and 4G Networks on their phones then they also could be the first to do it, I know many of people hate Apple but they do like to do some stuff first such as when they used the first X64 processors on a smartphone.
Considering 5G networks would be expensive for users especially in first couple of years then the first countries to use them would be probably Japan and Nordic countries where Sony and Nokia shines.

@GSMA-staff: I think Samsung could be the first one to implement 5G, when they purchase all units of a chipset from Qualcomm (from the initial lot), or maybe manufacture a new Exynos on their own...
Or it could be Apple or Mi.
