James, 02 Sep 2017Why would one buy this instead of cheaper Z Play?Better Camera and IP68, still behind the Z play in battery and screen

Merwyn Fernandes, 01 Sep 2017Huawei ,Xiaomi, Lenovo etc etc are all 2nd tier brands and the rest are 3rd tier brands there ... more(Sorry for the late reply, was out of internet due to heavy rain )
Yes there is no 4th or 10th tier in mobile standard because all things need to be kept easy and simple to understand. Having more tier will only confuse people further, but limiting hierarchy to just tier-III doesn't really paint the real picture; in fact its misleading.
Huawei and Xiaomi both have above average quality in both hardware and software. Huawei also make their own processor and Xiaomi has produced phones like Mi mix and are trying their hands at CPU's as well. On the other hand Lenovo haven't done anything to deserve to be in the same league as Huawei and Xiaomi, and they seldom make any phone that uses higher end SOC, heck their budget phones are also not any better compared to Xiaomi.
My list follows a simple logic that is "If two brands doesn't make phones similar in quality and technology then they can't be in the same tier".
So I still stand by my point that motorola of Lenovo can't be in the same tier as Samsung and Apple for now and Lenovo's mobile division can't be in the same league as Huawei and Xiaomi.
Also, all I am getting from you is all this goes in tier-I and all that goes in tier-II and their is no tier-IV. Do tell the reason behind your statements and flaws in my logic for having more than 3 tiers so that I can make corrections, because the way I see my list gives better idea of which phones should have more priorities over others.
Like A5 2017 plus dual camera and SD630, but minus AMOLED (Always-On Display)
Overprice for €399, RIP Moto X Series
Hmm, it's definitely the best-looking Moto out there today.
These specs are a step down from the initial Snapdragon 660 and 3800 mAh that would have really differentiated it from the G5 & G5S duo, but it's still pretty good. IP68 and Dual-Pixel camera is another bonus.
I also like how the rear camera setup has an "X" design under certain lighting scenarios.
Anonymous, 01 Sep 2017How about Nexus 6P?There was a great local deal on Galaxy S8 so I ended up buying one after my post. It's still a bit too expensive for my taste but I got tired of waiting for a great mid-ranger to appear so I had to go with Samsung. I mean I don't like the bloatware and would've preferred a stock Android but then again I assume you rarely notice the bloatware with 4 Gb / 64 Gb. TouchWiz is apparently now called Samsung UX and even though it's not ideal I've used TouchWiz before and I'll get used to it once again. There's always Nova Launcher to replace the home screens if I don't like it.
I would've totally bought Moto Z but I absolutely do need a headphone jack. And apparently the battery is terrible as well.

Also Lenovo is in the same tier as xiaomi and huawei ,meizu and all these Chinese brands oppo vivo etc etc and its definitely not a 4th tier brand.

Just because people buy Moto phones due to their previous brand image doesn't automatically make the phone a Tier 1.
And there are many old Motorola fan who cringe just seeing the name "Moto" . In my country their services are as good as Xiaomi and Huawei only.
Why can't there be tier 4 or 5 ?. There are brands like micromax, karbonn and whatnot which cannot be put in the same tier as Huawei, moto or lenovo.
So by your logic, a brand which is worse than tier 3 will be in the same tier because tier 4 doesn't exist right ?
AnonD-206292, 01 Sep 2017 Motorola was a Tier 1 brand not anymore in my own opinion. Tier 3 and Tier 2 and Tier 4 brands you mentioned
Also Motorola Make Really good phones maybe not as innovative as other brands but their quality and materials is still on par with Tier 1 brands
Also you chart for tiers doesn't make sense as I don't think Lenovo is a Tier 4 brand there is only tier 1 and 2 and rest all are tier 3 brands as I don't believe there is tier 4
Merwyn Fernandes, 01 Sep 2017Don't compare Tier One brands with Tier 3 brands
Why do you think S8 is 700$ and Note 8 is 1... more Motorola was a Tier 1 brand not anymore in my own opinion. I wouldn't put moto in the same tier as Samsung, Sony and Apple because they don't employ the same tech as Tier 1 brands in departments like camera and Audio and also the after sale services are not good in some countries.
Tier 1 : Samsung, Sony, Apple, LG & HTC
Tier 2 : Huawei and Motorola, Nokia
Tier 3 : Xiaomi, Oppo, Vivo, ZTE
Tier 4 : Lenovo, Meizu.
I only put Motorola in Tier 2 because they still have the old team and are somewhat competent, had the moto phone been made by Lenovo I would have straight away consider it a tier 4 brand.

Why do you think S8 is 700$ and Note 8 is 1000$
Essential phone is 700$
LG v30 is 900€
IPhone 7 and 7 plus are 600-900$
HTC U11 is 700$
And even the midrangers and low end phones of these brands are expensive as compared to the 3rd tier brands
All these phones could have been priced at 400-500$ but why are they priced so high and why are people buying them its because of the brand name and equity and the after sales service these brands provide and Motorola is a Tier 1 brand and not a tier 3 brand like lenovo and xiaomi hence the premium if you can't afford tier 1 brands you can also buy tier 3 brands no one is stopping you from doing so but you can't force a tier 1 brand to reduce their prices just because you want to buy them
Tier one brands price 625/626/630 for 350-450$ and 650/660 for 450-650$

And what are you talking about performance w... moreNobody is forcing me to buy these phones, but as an enthusiast it is disappointing to see 400 USD phones with processors that are mediocre in every way.
Dont you agree that there have been too many 625/626 phones from the likes of Xiaomi and Lenovo? Dont you want consumers to get a good deal, as they did with the Redmi Note 3 pro, a 200 USD phone that performed close to a flagship.
This does not have anything to justify the price. Mediocre SOC, mediocre battery capacity, mediocre camera with NO OIS either.

RIP Moto. Lenovo sent you to your grave.
Terrible Design and Finish (looks like the G5S but even Worse Finish), Mediocre processor for be Price, camera seems lousy (though will wait for the actual review).
This phone does not have One Single standout feature.
I'd better buy HTC 10 for this price.
