No S8, Samsung hasn't paid Netflix yet?
Um, isn't the first company to start the "Mobile HDR" trend actually Samsung rather than LG..... Remember the Note7.....

It's not clueless, in the sense that indeed only few people do this. But even if there were many I would still had found it weird. The screen is so dman small, you're basically killing the movia.
Not that there is no way to watch a movie on a small screen though ... It's merely one that OEMS failed to follow because they still are using low resolutions + bad HMDs
4k + a small hmd would have been the best way to watch movies like ever. A bit of how Earplugs is one of the best ways to listen to music. But with VR lacking , watching movies directly to the phone's screen is like listening to music to the phone's speaker. Tinny and meeeh , you're*killing* the media.

Making wild assumptions while not having even the faintest idea what you're talking about. Tons of people watch movies or series on their smartphones and tablets wherever they go, if only to kill some time.
Such a useless feature. Who's going to watch movies in such a tiny screen? And whoever does would HDR really make that much of a difference to his viewing experience? I mean it's already atrocious (you literally have to bring up the phone way too close to be comfortable, before turning cross sighted).
Nice feature... It would be perfect if the screen is 4K....
Such an awesome smartphone, as long as you get the Korean variant. If manufacturers are realizing that multimedia comsuption is on the rise at a very fast pace on the mobile world (heck, smartphone displays almost match top premium televisions in colour spaces, accuracy, brightness and contrast, now with several HDR techniques supported) and people still forget two extremely important aspects: High quality dual front facing speakers and headphone jack with matching DAC and AMP to provide a sound and image experience that will make us feel like we are where the action is happening .-.
