I had this and was very pleased with the physical keyboard and that's it. Unfortunately, this is the last BB-OS device and it would have made a dent if it were launched in 2009.

I have owned a passport for a year or so: I had one issue with the battery but otherwise it's it superb. I can write so fast and the audio quality and visual display are excellent . It has certain querks but I would without hesitation recommend this Blackberry. I did purchase a super Discover leather wallet as protection.

LostInTheSorrow, 25 Jan 2017I'd never purchase a phone with a screen of non-traditional respect ratio. How inconvenient! Hahah, I meant aspect ratio.

Agree with all your points, fast tune is a pain to watch in square format and games seem to be missing a bit of screen estate so I lose access to certain settings buttons for games like bubble with 3. Using cobalts play store gives me access to countless Android apps but I still haven't figured out how to patch apps to use Google service required apps. Overall I'm really loving it, though physical keyboard is hard to type fast compared to onscreen but its super accurate. I wish I could remeber how to tap in hub messages mark as read instead if having to view the email directly.

Is there any major differences with the silver edition besides aesthetics

I always get the feeling that the square screen is perfect for displaying album art while playing music...... LOL! ;D

I bought a Passport for USD 219 off eBay. I'll get the bad stuff out of the way first: it's a bit wide for smaller hands, app selection is marginal at best, you will likely have issues with getting yahoo accounts to register on the phone (took me 3 days of trying), official future OS support is a non-starter, if you run into technical issues with your carrier, you are on your own. The screen's aspect ratio is really bad for 16:9 videos. The OS 10.3.2 takes a bit of getting used to and is nowhere near as intuitive as Android, let alone iOS. No one supports this phone and BB is becoming is pretty useless these days. But that said...the phone has absolutely superb call quality, great via the earpiece, incredible with the speakerphone and almost recording studio quality with a decent pair of headphones. Reception is also excellent, better than Samsung or Apple. The screen's visibility in bright sunlight is even better than a Samsung Galaxy S7, itself absolutely brilliant in sunlight. Keyboard is great feeling. Phone is quick and doesn't lag at all as Android does. Battery life is excellent also, noticeably better than an iPhone 7 Plus. Screen is excellent for reading pdfs and many websites. Blackberry hub is an excellent way to have a central point of managing your communications. And overall build quality and solidity of phone is great, as is use of durable polycarbonate. Camera is good in daylight conditions.

This phone is not for people who focus on the multimedia experience: it's the wrong shape for that. It is a niche phone indeed, but as a backup phone or one where call quality and certainty is the utmost priority, I cannot recommend you try it out more highly.
