Boldy, 23 Nov 2016That's absolute bullshit. Nvidia 10xx GPUs support 4k 10-bit HEVC hardware decode just fine. T... moreAbsolutely. You don't NEED kaby lake, just hardware decode and PlayReady 3 support, which the pascal-based GPUs already have. It's the DRM path they've chosen to go down. This is why i've put off building a new HTPC for so long.

I generally don't have most of the things written in most of gsmarena's articles. Why to hurt the readers by saying it specially in this article? Damn, even Netflix isn't launched in my country

AMD GPUs has 4k 10-bit HEVC decoder doing HDR just fine, they demonstrated that in many shows. Yes, I believe it is a paid propaganda to push more kaby lake processors.

Point is MS had to work with Netflix so they could have went the extra mile. They just want Edge shares and unfortunately the browser is horrible. I try it every time there's an OS update and it always sucks. I am using Opera until I feel something else is better.

Also microsoft can't add the support of hardware decoding on netflix app, since Netflix needs to do that.

Considering a windows 10 app exists they could easily update it to use your hardware but instead they make it Edge only. Makes no sense. Windows 10 would still be promoted with the windows 10 app. It already has the advantage of having surround sound.
