Even if this is similar to Apple Pay its actually better and will probably be more widely used.
The technology Apple are using is meaning that most places are going to have to fork out money to update their payment terminals to be compatible with Apple Pay.
Samsung on the other hand are using MST which is already compatible with current payment terminals so is more likely to be used.

Looks like we're getting new currencies. I wonder how many will trust Apple, Google or Samsung and how many will not trust Bitcoin or simple ordinary banks?

Anonymous, 02 Mar 2015If Google launches Android Pay, where does this leave Google Wallet and Samesung Pay?Presumably Google Wallet would get integrated somehow. As for Samsung Pay, that's entirely up to Samsung given how it's their baby, not Google's

This new Android endeavor will not affect Google Wallet, which has been around for quite some time and is enjoying formidable popularity and is also the main payment gate for most of Google's paid services, including the Play Store. That system is absolutely different in what it does and might even be complimented by the new Android Pay API.
