woA, 21 Jan 2015w0w..how can you say so, -Have you tested the Windows 10 already? -Are you the programmer... moreIt's literally impossible to make x86 apps run on ARM processor natively without recompiling them or using some kind of very low-level emulation. So unless developers care to decompile, modify and recompile their programs to run on WP, the apps won't run on WP. Anyway, if a developer decided to port his desktop app to WP, he would definitely choose a simpler option of just creating a separate phone application with less functionality, what most developers are doing.

If they managed full Windows 8/8.1 to run on currently available tablets with Intel Atom SoCs. I do not see why they could not manage Windows 10 to work on phones. Because why can they not? They did a pretty great job to get W8/8.1 running on tablets. And I am pretty sure, they can do the same great job with W10 on phones

Microsoft is not a giant in Silicon Valley, they just have a small office there, they are headquarted in Seattle area, Washington state.

arienai, 21 Jan 2015WP10 won't be able to run x86-based app, so what's the point of naming it Windows 10? Well they will share one App Store. Do your work or play games on your desktop/tablet then continue them on your phone. Or in the future when phones become powerful enough to put in a dock and run full desktop OS.

As Android phones get Nokia maps (Here), I lost any attraction to Windows phones, even if I was big fan of Nokia. There are so much more apps for Android to compare with Windows. And I am not talking just about games, there are many useful apps for work I need, including maps for parking payment etc, so I am not seeing too bright future for Win 10.

I'm looking forward to this. And a Lumia with a decent battery. After having had my Lumia stolen and having used a mix of BB and Android devices, I can't wait to get back to the simplicity and ease of use of the latest Microsoft mobile OS. The platform has more than enough apps to keep me busy. Thank you very much.

AnonD-354354, 20 Jan 2015Only universal apps can run in both devices.Modern Apps in Windows 8/8.1 CAN run in ARM based Windows RT (like Surfice RT tablets), and CAN run in my X86/64 based tablet, and desktop computer.
This is a real, existing technology! Everyone used this, who used a Windows 8 PC.
MS now simply merge Windows RT witht Windows Phone, this will be the Windows(Phone) 10.
I think this will NOT be a huge succes. Windows Phone was a failure. Windows RT was a failure too. So merging this two failed OS, can't be a success!!!
It will only be a new failure.
MS should make smartphones with X86 based Atom SOC, and use the REAL Windows 10. THIS could be a succes.

I wanted to say, Windows phone 10 will run only modern apps. These apps will run both X86 and ARM. So modern apps will be run on Computer, tablets, an WP10.
But, WP10 will not be able to run X86 based programs. So WP10 is not a full value Windows. Like Windows RT was not a full value Windows.
And talking about my "dream MS phone", why so impossible to use X86 Intel Atom in a phone??
My Lenovo tablet use one of these Atom SoC, and DEFINITELY can run X86 programs, and ARM (Surface RT) based Apps.
This is not impossible, and not the future. This is an existing technology, at least in tablets.
I want this technology in phones. MS could make phones like this, with NO difficulty.
And if you considered, that an X86 Atom costs exactly the same, as an S800 ARM SOC (30-35 USD), these phones could be build in the same cost, like nowdays ARM based (flaghship) phones.
