vivo iQOO Android Announcement

The iQOO Z6 series has been available for some time in India, but now the vivo sub-brand also brought it home in China. However, the iQOO Z6 smartphone announced today is very different from its international namesake, with one of the notable changes being the 80W fast charging.

The event also saw the arrival of the more affordable iQOO Z6x, which impresses with its 6,000mAh battery.

iQOO Z6

The Chinese iQOO Z6 is powered by a Snapdragon 778G+ coupled with either 8GB or 12 GB LPDDR5 RAM. Storage is either 128GB or 256GB UFS 3.1, but there is no microSD slot.

Looking at the front, we have a 6.64” LCD with Full HD+ resolution, up to 120Hz refresh rate and 240Hz touch sampling rate. The panel covers 100% of the DCI-P3 100% color gamut and can reach up to 650 nits peak brightness. The fingerprint scanner is placed on the side, embedded in the power key.

There are three cameras on the back - 64MP main with OIS and f/1.79 lens, a 2MP depth sensor and a 2MP macro cam. The front-facing has an 8MP sensor and is mounted on a waterdrop notch.

The iQOO Z6 battery has 4,500mAh capacity and it takes only 10 minutes to reach 50% charge hitting peak 80W speeds. The phone packs an advanced cooling system that promises to lower the CPU temperature by 13 degrees.

This iQOO Z6 for the Chinese market boots Origin OS Ocean built on top of Android 12. It is available in Golden Orange, Blue, and Black colors with prices starting from CNY 1,699 ($250). Sales begin on September 1 at all major online retailers in China.

The Z6x also has a 6nm chipset but this one is from Mediatek - a Dimensity 810. RAM here is 6GB or 8GB and is of the LPDDR4X type, meaning slightly lower speeds than the Z6. Storage is also a bit slower, as it is UFS 2.1 but still 128GB or 256GB.

The screen is a 6.58” LCD with a waterdrop notch for the 8MP f/2.0 camera. The fingerprint scanner is on the side, also acting as a power key.

There are two cameras on the back here. The main has a 50MP sensor and an f/1.8 lens in front, while the secondary is a 2 MP macro shooter.

The Z6x's humongous battery is limited to relatively tamer 44W charging speeds.
