2024 now, this is the best phone to ever come out, but anyone still using their xt890 RAZR I?
I remember that this was heavily advertised. Wasn’t there an ad where someone took a photo of a dog in the grass with this phone, where the dog was coming closer in slow motion? Also, what was the message of that ad „this phone has a camera“ or what
does this thing run windows?
Hell yeah, this phone is awesome. I'm trying to build Android 12 on it just for the lulz
10 year old phone now, I still miss mine, but definately the world has moved on. Anyone still enjoying theirs in 2022?

I've just updated one of these old phones with Android 9 (yes 9 or Pie!! LineageOS 16 variant) following instructions on the XDA forum for my son - it runs fine, but only just fits in the internal storage space: needed a fast sdcard to extend memory for apps but after that no problems.
Shure it supports aptX ???
Ferhan, 04 Sep 2018Razr i was an amazing phone. It finally died from water damage after 4.5 years of heavy usage.... moreIm still proud to have been an owner and user of this phone for almost 4 years from when it was released. I wonder why not vendors make something similar, with kevlar compact body and around 5' screen. Updated processor and cameras. It would be awesome if they did, but only Moto can do it. Hello and come on Moto!
Hello everyone
I have possessed this mobile since 2013 up to now and it is still working on original Andriod 4.4.2. I did not replace nothing in it but the glass which I broke dropping it down on solid concrete. It is my best phone I ever had. I also possess another one much more recent model from different producer, but neverthereless this one is my favourite one. Due to some hardware limitations and sites bloated with media it isn't as snappy in internet as it was years before. It can play video up to 1080p with no lags and frame drops. The only issue is with video encoded with x265 HEVC which it is able to play at not more than 540p, at higher resolutions it looses the sync and makes frame drops.
I highly recomend this piece of hardware. It is shame that newer phones cannot be such handy and sturdy as this one.
Best camera on a phone I ever had, even to this day, I received many complements regarding my photos taken with this phone.

This phone was rubbish. From the beginnig. The management of RAM memory in a stock system (4.1) was completelty misguided. After restart I had ~500MB of free RAM, after surfing internet a bit the ammount of free RAM decreased to about ~200MB. There was no way to clean its memory. Closing apps, "RAM cleaning" apps, nothing worked. Only restart helped. The phone was getting very hot on even on simple tasks like surfing the internet. When the phone was hot, the battery was drained very fast. If you want a working phone, forget about 32bit Intel processors. My next device is Sony Z3 compact and it's much better. RAZR i is my worst phone. It's a nightmare.

How did you manage to update your Razri?
I agree with all your comments about the phone but I am still stuck on 4.0.4.0.
No matter what I do it simply will not update the software

Motorola prove its technology much advance
A great phone. The screen was lovely though eventually suffered from burn-in after a fortnight running sat nav software on full brightness (Oops!) The thing that killed it though was a corrupted data partition stopped it booting. I had it fixed once under warranty, but the second time it went told me there was only trouble ahead if I tried to get it fixed it again. I replaced the Razr i with the 4G version of the original Moto G which was only just 'equivalent' in spec despite being a lot newer and was nowhere near as good in its build/ feel.
Fantastic phone since 2012, it lasted me until summer 2016, where I have to admit that the Samsung S7 was and is a better phone, finally. Believe me I tried a lot of high end stuff over the years to replace my Razr i, but only the Samsung S7 never made me come back to it. The only thing it has over the S7, is the kevlar cool design, and the compactness. Camera is fantastic on the S7, the battery and days of usage is longer lasting on the S7. I thought I would struggle with the S7 size, but I was wrong. I do not however want a bigger phone than the S7. But the fact that it lasted me and outperformed all other phones from 2012-mid 2016, is a fantastic achievement. If I were Moto and reading this, I would just make an updated version, 5 inch Amoled, kevlar design, as big a battery as possible and top processing power, and they will have a winner again.
