l0gan, 12 Jan 2021This cell phone does not have NFC.European version (XT2083-3) has NFC. It's even clearly stated on official Motorola's page.
NFC model is nq-nci (mady by Qualcomm).
the back reminds me of the mate 20 pro
pretty good phone, worth every penny. most important, long lasting battery, what a relief.

After firs... moreThis is part 2 of my review after almost 2 months as my friend has it.
There are regular security updates every 2 months and it will officially get Android 11 – both standard practice for Motorola.
I found out that Steam Link doesn‘t work properly. Completely irrelevant for my friend, but if you want to stream Steam games, I have no idea why it doesn‘t work properly. I tried various settings :/.
For some reason, display is HDR10 and HLG certified! I have no idea why it‘s not official, but it works. Pixel response time is obviously slow i.e. obvious smearing when scrolling.
Phone‘s SoC has GPS/Glonass/Galileo receiver. It‘s impossible to get a cold location fix inside building at all. Outside fix is super quick (just few seconds). After you obtain outside fix, it works even inside.
Battery autonomy is fantastic! With medium to light usage, over 15 hours of screen on time.
Turn on Moto Audio and switch to Balanced. I can confirm that phone‘s audio amplifier has enough power for 3,5mm 32 ohm headphones – I have Superlux HD681 EVO.
I tried many Google camera apps with various level of usability. Finally, somebody posted on xda forum the proper one - it‘s Nikita version with customized xml so now everything works properly. Stock Moto Camera is actually pretty solid in good light conditions but completely fails in low light.
For ~165 € this phone is a no brainer.
When you are getting happy with the phone... And you find that doesnt have a simple thing like compass...
Last Motorola for me.
I bought this phone from ExtraStores in Saudi Arabia for only 579SR
(~$155 USD)
I've gotta tell you, this is one hell of a deal
Unfortunately I returned this phone because I saw the G9 Plus on noon.com for only $25 more with much better specs on paper
But I kind of regret it, since this phone is lighter and a better size than the G9 Plus
Pros:
Amazing deal for a phone if you can get it for the price I did
Unbelievable battery life (over 15 hours screen on time using WiFi)
Perfect size in the hand feels right holding it
Speedy performance, since it's only pushing an HD screen not FHD I can sense it much faster than my previous phone with an equivalent chipset but FHD screen
128GB + 4GB RAM means this phone is future proof
Included cover
Cons
A bit on the heavy size but manageable
Angle of view is really narrow to the point where image is different between your two eyes, which causes me eye strain because I read a lot (returned it)
No glass protection?
Overall an amazing value,
It would've been perfect if the screen was 6.3 with better viewing angles and the same battery capacity and 20 grams lighter
Just bought the G9 play but wont connect my square-even we tried with technicians. So we tried anther brand-Samsung, it connected straight away bothe use anroid 10. Otheerwise G9 play is a good phone.
What can you say about the audioquality when you receive a phonecall? Is is good or poor?
some bugs I had the first days:
1. icons not showing at notifications, just a solid square
2. unlock screen bugging and not unlocking properly
3. some apps just crash
4. sometimes gestures for camera or lantern or screenshot won't work and need to reboot
5. bluetooth randomly turned off a few times while listening music
battery has a very good performance, camera is ok, phone has a good size and good performance overall

In Finland with 99 euros from special sale this phone is a great value.
My good friend bought it. Paid 165 € here in Serbia – retail version (XT-2083-3).
After first start, there was a new update for 1. september 2020 (security update, bug fixes and improve stability of phone).
Internal memory is 64GB, but 25% is already used i.e. system takes 15GB.
A lot of LTE bands are covered: 1/3/5/7/8/18/19/20/26/28/38/40/41.
BT audio codecs are: SBC, AAC, aptX, aptX HD, LDAC, aptX Adaptive, aptX TWS+.
The main back camera is Samsung ISOCELL GM1. Front camera is made by Omnivision. Camera2 API is full (level 3).
Sound is bengalawinicsnd (whatever that means). I expected Cirrus Logic like in many other Motorolas, but it‘s not :/. Speaker sound is all right and loud enough.
16:9 videos are actually displayed as on 5,5“ 16:9. Display is pretty good, but from steeper angle it loses brightness exponentially. Of course, it‘s IPS-type LCD so it doesn‘t colour shift, and suprisingly has deep blacks / contrast for IPS-type.
Touch panel controller is made by Himax and supports up to 10 fingers multi-touch.
For some reason, there was pre-installed Facebook app but you can uninstall it. Also, you can either uninstall or disable every Google app (even Play Store!), too so you can have clean / minimally bloated OS. Heck, you can even disable Moto app if you want.
Anonymous, 08 Oct 2020Still the firs phone ever (mobile phone) in the end was a Motorola. Not Siemens , not Nokia...... moreThat was long ago, before they were bought out by the Chinese firm Lenovo.
Anonymous, 08 Oct 2020Still the firs phone ever (mobile phone) in the end was a Motorola. Not Siemens , not Nokia...... moreThis is Lenovo who bought the Motorola phone brand. They are a Chinese company who bought IBM's IP in part. Not developed it themselves. What do they have to do with Motorola from 1969? Apart from ripping-off Italian-sounding brand-names.
alchemist83, 17 Sep 2020You mean Star Trek surely? Cos that's where Motorola got the idea.. Oh and Marconi I'... moreStill the firs phone ever (mobile phone) in the end was a Motorola. Not Siemens , not Nokia....
motorola was the first to make possible a conection between earth and the moon in 1969...where wre Nokia and Siemens ?
BTW motorola still has it´s division in place in Chicago, were Siemens mobile is extinct and Nokia mobile now belgons to a start up HMD....Motorola was the only big brand that somehow managed to survive....
