Motorola Android Firmware Updates

Motorola has started rolling out the update to Android 17 for the Edge 70 Pro, according to a report on Reddit. The update is currently going out to the European model, and it's a 3.42GB download, so make sure you grab it over a fast enough network. Once you've installed it, your phone will be on software version A171WMH.44-25.

The changelog says you can expect "a fresh, expressive design", reduced clutter with smarter notifications, faster multitasking with more apps being accessible at once, and extra security with "enhanced protection and controls". Beyond those highlights, the update reportedly brings new lock screen clock faces, redesigned notifications and quick settings, a new volume mixer, an updated Settings app, Live Activities support for calls, music, and the flashlight, a refreshed app drawer, better support for themed icons, and improved animations. The user who got it also says Motorola's Qira AI agent, which the company confirmed would arrive with Android 17, works well on the new build.

Motorola Edge 70 Pro starts receiving Android 17

The Edge 70 Pro was announced in April running Android 16, and it's slated to get up to three major OS updates, so this is the first of those. It joins a growing list of Motorola devices on Android 17, after the Signature in August, the Edge 60 Fusion in September, and the Razr Ultra 2026 earlier this month.

For now, the update appears to be reaching a limited number of units, so it may take a few days or weeks for every Edge 70 Pro out there to get it, and longer for markets beyond Europe. You can check for it manually by heading to Settings > System updates, and it's a good idea to back up your important data before installing it.
