MediaTek CPUs have random battery drain issues due to bad wakelock management and I proved it here: https://xdaforums.com/t/discovered-wakelock-issue-affecting-multiple-mediatek-devices.4760716/

No, they're effiency focussed CPUs that last very long and hardly overheat. I prefer them to Snap Dragon.
