Meizu Android Announcement

The Meizu V8 is an entry-level phone with a 5.7” 18:9 screen. The phone comes in two flavors – regular and V8 Pro – which cost CNY 800 and CNY 1,100 respectively (that’s $115/€100 and $160/€140 in western currency).

In both cases you’re looking at a 720 x 1,440px screen that promises 1,000:1 contrast ratio and a brightness of 450nits. The batteries are almost the same – 3,200mAh for the regular and 3,100mAh for the Pro. The real difference comes from the build material, chipset, memory and camera.

The Meizu V8 Pro is made of metal and sports a MediaTek Helio P22 chipset (octa A53 CPU) with 4GB of RAM and 64GB storage. The rear camera is a 12+5MP setup (with f/2.2 apertures and bokeh mode) while the selfie camera is a 5MP f1/9 shooter with face unlock.

The Meizu V8 has a polycarbonate body and a MediaTek MT6739 chipset (quad A53 CPU) with 3GB of RAM and 32GB storage. Its rear camera has a 13MP sensor and f/2.2 lens, the selfie cam is the same 5MP f/1.9 module (same face unlock functionality too). Or you could use the fingerprint reader that's on the back of both phones.

Both the V8 and V8 Pro come in Black, but the second color is different – White for the base model and Gold for the Pro. Tmall shows additional color options (Purple and Blue), but those are marked “unavailable” and the price is a placeholder, so the info on the page still needs to be updated.

You can pre-order a Meizu V8 or V8 Pro today and it will ship out on September 26. It’s available on Meizu.com, but also Tmall, JD and Suning.

Why would anyone buy this over the Meizu M6s which is now priced at similar $115? It has metal body, side finger print , Exynos 7872 and best of all, fast charging support!

MTK P20 can match SD450, if you really follow statistics and performance, other specs in a phone matters, not just processors and the chips installed
