MediaTek Mobile hardware Announcement

MediaTek unveiled a new gaming-oriented chipset for entry-level phones (and possibly some of the more affordable mid-rangers). The MediaTek Helio G70 is built on the same 12nm process as the G90 but scales back on the computational resources.

The chip houses two Cortex-A75 cores at 2GHz, plus six A55 cores. The Helio G90 has a similar setup, though it uses newer A76 cores, which are faster at the same clock speed than the A75. Only eMMC 5.1 is supported, meaning phones with the G70 will not have fast UFS storage.

Heading over to the graphics department, the chip features Mali-G52 2EEMC2 running at 820Mhz. Display resolution can be up to 1080p, tall aspect ratios up to 21:9 are supported.

CorePilot is in charge of providing consistent performance even during extended gaming sessions by controlling the CPU and GPU clock speeds. The Voice on Wakeup feature enables voice assistants with minimal power use.

Wireless Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.0 Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.0

The ISP inside the Helio G70 supports a single 48MP camera (Quad Bayer) or two 16MP cams (the second could be ultra wide, tele, macro, whatever the maker fancies). Depth maps can be calculated in hardware and there is NeuroPilot for AI tasks (object and scene recognition, bokeh enhancement).

Besides the storage, another thing that may limit this chip’s use in mid-range models is the 1080p/60fps cap on video capture. Goodies like EIS and rolling shutter correction are on board, however.

The chipset has a modem capable of dual 4G VoLTE and 300Mbps downlink. Local connectivity is served by Wi-Fi 5 (802.11ac) and Bluetooth 5.0.

Chinese media claims that the MediaTek Helio G70 will be used in phones in the CNY 1,000 price segment (around $145/€130).

It is true that SNAPDRAGON processors are starting to drop in the market shares due to competition from Mediatek processors.. we are yet to see how long that will last. As for now, Mediatek Helio series is killing it when it comes to high performance...

lol no way dimensity 1000 will be for mid range phone, it's for flagship and we dont know if dimensity can compete with SD 865 or Kirin 990. The only info we know is it's "better" than SD 765G (I never trust company benchmark anyway, just taking it w...
