I just picked one up for under a 100 bucks. Honestly, its awesome. That screen resolution is so sharp @ 1440p 2K display, and the camera does a great job. Mine is on OS 9.0 pie though, Im hoping i can get it up to Android 10 at least.
Anonymous, 11 Jan 2023Is it recommended to buy a fearly used one in 2023?Yes, it's still a very capable phone up to this day, but I sold it because I want a Sony XZ2 Compact which is smaller and what I am fixated to right now.
Anonymous, 11 Jan 2023Is it recommended to buy a fearly used one in 2023?Yes! I'm still using it now in 2023. Better screen resolution than most phones out there! QUAD DAC audio! Awesome speakers! Cheers!

Also there are various methods for debloating. There are 2 GUI apps for Windows:

https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/2022-07-03-v0-5-1-universal-android-debloater.4069209/
This one is by using ADB commands on PC:

There is also an Android app, which is App Freezer by Wakasoftware. It's the easiest and most convenient way to debloat. Atlhough a one-time permission granting via PC is needed:

Although it can be fixed by doing a factory reset using the volume down and power buttons. For tutorials on how to do that, you can search "lg factory reset buttons" in Google. So make sure you have a backup before disabling the system apps.
Regarding what to disable, search "Universal Android Debloater Softpedia" and click on the very first website. Here you can download a zip file which contains several text files for various manufacturers, which explain about their system apps, their functions and if they are safe to disable or not.

What I did was, connect the charger and wait for it to display fast charging and then long press the on /off button and power off. It then takes about an hour to fully charge. Mine was taking up to 2.5 hours if I didn't power it off.
Unfortunately I now have a connectivity issue as it will only connect to 2G when I'm out and about. I've even tried a different SIM but to no avail. Both SIMs work in my old LG4 so it's definitely the V40 which is a shame.

This 5-year-old phone is doing better than my Flip4 was.. (for everything but battery life). and it feels so solid! Aaaand the LG UI is just so much more developed and.. I dunno. I actually liked this phone. I can't say as I was alllll that big of a fan of the flips (they were just nice in the pocket when not in-use)

Odg, 21 Oct 2022Anyone know how to undo this I used this on my V50 now it gets stuck on boot and gets really hot Did it happen due to disabling the system apps? Disabling a few of them results in the phone getting stuck in boot, since there are several system apps that are necessary for the OS, like "Android", "SystemUI", and a few others.
One way to fix this is to perform a factory reset by using volume/power buttons which also wipes the phone's storage.
1- When the phone turns off for a few seconds between the bootup cycles, hold the power and volume down buttons at the same time.
2- When the LG logo is displayed, release the power button and then immediately hold it again.
3- Release both buttons when the factory hard reset screen is displayed.
4- It asks if you want to factory reset the phone, press the volume down to highlight "Yes" and then press the power button to select it. Do this once more and it should perform the factory reset.
