Final OS 12 update was on Feb 2023. Highly unlikely G8X thinq will recieve any more security updates. Is it safe to use without the security updates? What is the ideal time to stop using it and what are the precautions we must take until replacement?

Do one thing: Go to Settings/ Extensions/ Smart Doctor/ Test Hardware... And test all modules one by one, and let me know if there's a problem in any sensor... ?

1) LG have significantly improved the P-OLED display quality on Velvet
2) The speed and accuracy of the fingerprint scanner have dramatically improved.
3) My Velvet comes with Snapdragon 765G, but feels as fast and snappy as G8X.
4) The G8X with Snapdragon 855 is better in games.
5) G8X have better cameras.
6) While built quality wise both are same, however Velvet feels much more of a premium phone.
7) After using a lot of LG phones, I can safely say Velvet is LG's pinnacle in terms of exterior design and aesthetics.

Which means it the finger print won't work when there is any obstacle like a screen protector or a wet or dirty finger. If you want to use finger print remove the screen protector. If you want screen protector use other means to unlock your phone

Naveen , 08 Sep 2023How about the sound quality?Sound Quality is very good and you'll get nothing in this price which is better sounding overall. It matches earphones costing twice or thrice.
I remember how I used to consider Mi Dual Driver earphones as very good, but E80C simply gives more spacious and deep sounds...
However, although its decent in bass, its still biased towards treble, which means high frequency sounds like flute, etc. sound too shrill. That's all.

I found another article that according to LG - they promised 4 years of post-sale support for 4 years from the release of the device. This G8X - hopefully, will get a final OS patch update before Nov,2023.

I bought a G8X Dual Screen in 2020. It has served me well as a phone, media and research tool. Problem #1: hinge on folding cover lasts about a year before getting loose. #2: It only will upgrade to Android 12. #3: this is the big one...glass cover on the phone itself is losing its seal and feels like it has a gap on the power button side...still useable as a research tool as I have now upgrade to a Nokia XR20.
